GDC 2011 Already Dated

GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2010 set an all-time record of 18,250 people attending at the San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center which broke last year’s record of 17,000. This is a different type of convention that centers around developers coming together to discuss how they work on their own projects. Along with these discussions, a couple announcements are made with the games industry including new details on Sony’s new motion controller called Move. GDC has already been set for next year at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco from Monday, February 28 to Friday, March 4, 2011. You can keep up with GDC news at their site.

NBA Jam New Trailer

All I got to say is that I’m glad to see this game is being made. It’s honestly my favorite sports game I have ever played and would love to play this online with people. The game is set exclusively for the Wii (for now) but hopefully you don’t have to mess with friend codes and can just hop into games. This is a game to definitely keep your sights on so anytime they say the words NBA Jam, I’ll be sure to report on it.

New Alan Wake Screens

Alan Wake, the brilliant-looking psychological thriller from Remedy has come out with some new screenshots. Now, I’m obviously not the only one who thinks so, but Alan Wake looks great. It’s been in development for what seems like an eternity, but judging from what I’ve seen, Alan Wake will be worth the wait.

Crackdown 2 Slated for Summer Release

After much speculation and a plethora of development hurdles, Crackdown 2 is set for an official retail release on July 6, 2010.  The team at Ruffian Games has been working on this sequel for awhile now, despite the initial hesitance from Microsoft on a sequel to 2007’s originator: Crackdown.

Bethesda Softworks Set To Publish Hunted: The Demon’s Forge

Bethesda announced today it is adding the title Hunted: The Demon’s Forge to its publishing list which is a Co-Op dungeon crawler in development by inXile Entertainment for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. inXile Entertainment knows its way around these tipes of games; the founder is Brian Fargo who has worked on games like Bard’s Tale, Baldur’s Gate and Fallout. I will say Bethesda isn’t scared of taking any risks, but this looks like it could be a fairly good game judging by the screenshots. Good news for Bethesda with this deal; this adds to their already great looking list of games set to publish including Fallout: New Vegas and RAGE.

Bull$hit Article of the Week – God of War 3 causes REAL ApocalyPS3

On March 16th, 2010, the world will change as we know it. Millions of gamers around the world will flock to retail stores for God of War 3, in hopes of getting the ultimate action experience. And they will get it- just not the way they expected.

There is growing evidence that suggests that the game is triggering the REAL ApocalyPS3. We spoke with Sony’s Kaz Hurah for details, and he had this to say: “We know we dropped the ball with that PS3 update-glitch, the “ApocalyPS3,” but this time it’s for real. Seriously guys, we’re all gonna die.”

Change is in the Air

Its been just about about 5 years since the Xbox 360 was released and 4 years since Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii have been on store shelves.  Some are already talking about the announcement of the eighth generation console(s) coming as soon as this E3; some say it’ll happen next year and few say it might not even happen anytime soon.  Either way — new consoles or not — change is always coming.  With Sony repeating the idea that they are “future proof”, and as expensive as their console is (or ‘was’ depending on your preference) you can count on it lasting you for at least a decade. I think it’s safe to say there won’t be an announcement from Sony anytime soon for a Playstation 4 and Nintendo seems to be content with their stance in the market at the moment.  So if there was an announcement of a new console coming soon most will suspect it will be Microsoft; while many beg to differ with the approach of the “Natal”  release and some speculate that it wouldn’t be that far-fetched of an idea if Microsoft was already planning on a next-gen console to release as soon as 2011 or 2012 with Natal compatibility.

Mega Man 10 Vintage Commercial

A throwback to the old amazing video game commercials we don’t get the privilege of seeing anymore because commercials for video games are nothing but CGI scenes that don’t show anything from the game. I would rather see this kid’s TV attack him; Capcom really knows how to tickle your retro spot with throwbacks like these. Has anybody actually seen this ran on TV? Please leave feedback if you have. GET MEGA THIS MARCH.

New Lost Planet 2 Trailer

Whoa, what a great looking game this is turning out to be. This new trailer shows off some nice looking environments ranging from desert, forestry, and even back to some snowy climates. It starts off a bit slow showing off the CGI cutscenes but it picks up halfway through where it starts into new details. After some brief gameplay, it details their customization options of the characters, goes into some new weapons, and ends with a wide arrange of the enemies you will be facing. To make things simple, watch this trailer because it is damn gorgeous.
