Why is no one playing Unreal Tournament 3 anymore?

Yes, this is a post that is posing as a question to everyone reading it that is interested in online FPS games. I just recently picked up the PS3 version BRAND NEW for around $13 dollars and was excited to be jumping into this game again. I quickly jump on the PlayStation store download the Titan Map Pack, which is free by the way, and quickly jump into a game of free-for-all deathmatch. I play a couple games and then decide to back out and play some Vehicle Capture the Flag. There were 2 rooms available, and one of them was 0/16 which means no one was in that room. So I had no choice but to hop into the only available room and play with the eleven or so people that were playing ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.
I understand the game has some problems like for instance there isn’t much strategy to the game. You move too fast and can’t think about things for too long before somebody either runs you over or snipes you from the other end of the map; you have to constantly keep moving. Also, there are no revolutionary modes that you haven’t seen in any other game besides the vehicle stages which I got to say are quite fun.

For every problem it has (which is not many at all compared to some games) there are moments that just blow me away. The announcer is probably my favorite announcer I have ever heard. Hearing him yell KILLING SPREE!!! is just as rewarding as some lame-o telling you YOU ROCK on whatever Guitar Hero/Rock Band you last played. There are literally close to thirty different maps you can play on so you know the game will constantly feel fresh for quite a while. The weapons are also a blast to use, my favorite being the Flak cannon which shoots bullets that bounce off the walls and go every which way. The vehicles are a bit clunky to control (I have a bad habit of hopping out of my vehicle while I’m thousands of feet in the air) but you get used to them after a while.
What the hell happened? Why is nobody playing this game. Has the Call of Duty’s and the Killzone’s just destroyed the only audience that UT3 had? Have they brought down their Hammer of Thor and walloped what little following Unreal had. I don’t want this purchase to go away; I’m not ready to put this game on the shelf to sadly look at it while I wipe the floor of the Helghast, or blow off another Nazi/terrorist’s genitals. Anytime anyone wants to throw down on some UT3, check our about page and add me up and I will be patiently waiting in the lobby for you.
