It’s a broken record with Nintendo and their monthly reports

Nintendo released their numbers for the month of April and yet again they dominated the NPD’s. Their biggest numbers were from the DS/DSi sales numbers that racked in a combined total of 1.04 million; setting a record high for that month. Breaking the DS/DSi numbers down by console; the DSi sold 827,000 and the DS Lite sold 215,000. These numbers add up to breaking over 30 million in total sales in the U.S. The shocking bit of news actually revolves around the Nintendo Wii, even though it was still the best selling system, sold 340,000. These are some low numbers considering they’ve been steadily over 500,000. Check after the break for the top selling Nintendo games for April.
“Nintendo systems and software represented 56 percent of the industry total shares in April, indicating continued strong consumer preference for quality and value,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce active-play games like Punch-Out!! and Wii Sports Resort into the market.”
Not only did Nintendo move tons of hardware, but also software as well. Six games made it to the top of the list while the top four are all held by Nintendo:
1. Wii Fit 470,000
2. Pokemon Platinum 432,000
3. Mario Kart Wii 209,000
4. Wii Play 170,000
7. New Super Mario Bros 119,000
8. Mario Kart DS 112,000
