Xbox Live/PSN Arcade Version of MvC2 Not Paving The Way For Sequel

mvc21

I had very high hopes of some sort of video/playable demo release of  Marvel vs. Capcom 3 this year at E3, especially since there was mention of it at the San Deigo ComiCon this past year. Those hopes were only brought to an even higher level when hearing about Marvel vs. Capcom 2’s addition to Xbox Live Arcade/PSN. Those hopes of mine were crushed into tiny bits when Capcom’s Seth Killian stated to Joystiq at a media event: “What we’re hoping is that if people get really juiced about this title, and we can show Marvel that there’s a lot of heat behind this, then they’ll open the doors for us to do something with (MvC)3.” As of now, there is no direct runway between the re-release of MvC2 and MvC3, and I know, gamers…it hurts. It really hurts.

There are rumors of sweet new customized MvC2 arcade stick stations that will be sold for the release of the game online, but nothing confirmed as of now. Keep your ears open!

Well, that rumor didn't last too long

It's a shame really, I really would have liked to have seen what Capcom would do for the title if it had a next-gen release.
