Muramasa: The Demon Blade Details

This could easily be one of my most anticipated games of this year, and not just on the Wii either. Muramasa: The Demon Blade is a stunning game in the visuals department on a console that has a hard time dazzling gamers not having HD support, and this developer has already impressed with Odin Sphere which released on the PS2. This is looking like a great year for the Wii and this title is one of the reasons. Now that Muramasa has a publisher, Ignition Entertainment, we should expect this game to hit retail shelves sometime this September. Check after the break for details on Vallinaware’s new title and a gameplay video.
“Ignition Entertainment is immensely proud for the opportunity to bring Muramasa: The Demon Blade to the legions of North American gamers yearning for top-quality, original action games on Wii.” said Shane Bettenhausen, New Business Development Director of Ignition Entertainment. “The talented developers at Vanillaware have crafted an absolutely stunning adventure through feudal Japan that balances subtle, sophisticated artistry with razor-sharp, addictive gameplay.”

It’s hard to take your eyes off the screen when this game is in motion, the Wii really can handle some amazing detail in games; it just depends on how well the developer can pull it off. The hand-drawn art style really pops out at you which is hard for the screenshots to capture; you really must see this game in motion. I’m a sucker for side-scrollers and I love games that take a different direction in their artistic abilities; this game has both. In fact, this game has everything including 16:9 widescreen support, multiple playable paths for great replayability, and support for every controller the Wii can handle (Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic, and GameCube controller). Not much has been announced with the story yet, but you do have the option of playing as a male ninja or female kunoichi.
This game should be on every hardcore Wii owner’s radar. The game is absolutely beautiful and really proves the Wii can spurt out some graphics that can hang with the rest.
