Modern Warfare 2 Details

Everybody already knows this game is going to destroy. Companies make release date decisions based on this series. The popularity that was Modern Warfare wasn’t expected but was met with such success that a sequel was bound to happen. Modern Warfare 2 seems to be taking all the right decisions a sequel should take. Multiplayer is getting updated a lot more than what I was expecting, which what I was expecting was COD 4 multiplayer with new maps, but the new implementations sound awesome. Let’s take a look at this monstrosity of a game and see what all the fuss is about.

There are gamers out there that would argue that Call of Duty doesn’t even need a single player story anymore. I can’t disagree with this statement enough; the single player campaign is full of Michael Bay moments and great characters it’s hard not to like it. MW2 is set years after the first MW ended where the main character from the first game Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish returns with a new rank; captain of the Special Air Service. You play as Sergeant Gary “Roach” Sanderson where Soap ends up as his superior. Another character has been announced nicknamed Ghost who conceals his face with a skull imprinted balaclava. I like the fact that this is a direct sequel to the story and are bringing back some of the characters that you worked with in the first game. It’s unclear if they will continue the branching story archs where you play as multiple characters or if they will stick with the main one.

There hasn’t been great details of the plot announced but enough to know what to expect from the story. The villian of this game is Vladimir Makarov who was an associate to Imran Zakhaev (villian from the COD4). After Zakhaev’s death, Makarov has gathered a new army together that needs to be taken out, which is where the global community established Task Force 141 comes in (good guys). At E3 2009, an early level was shown off where the group infiltrated a russian based in the Tian Shan mountain range in which they escaped on snowmobiles. It also appears that you will be able to dual wield pistols but not sure about other weapons.

now enough of the single player, lets jump into some updates with the multiplayer. On a sad note, the single player story mode is going to stay single player, no co-op which is sort of a downer, but they have something that will lift your spirits up called Special Ops. Remember the Mile High Club mission after the credits run on COD4, these missions will be based like that was where it was a stand alone mission that had no ties to the single player story, but will take place in scenarios from the single player missions. These missions can be tackled alone or with a friend and will range in races, fending off waves of enemies, and fighting with the U.S. Navy SEALs. This also seems to take the place of the Nazi Zombies mode that was introduced in World at War. This sounds like a cool way to add co-op, and seems to be more ranged than just shoot a bunch of Nazi zombies.

Modern Warfare 2 will also adopt the same experience system found in COD4 but the numbers has risen greatly where a kill lands you 50 points instead of the normal 10. The trailer shows off some of the new weapons but also shows off the new customizable kill streak rewards system. Some of the new rewards include a supply drop after four kills, a predator missile strike after five, and the biggest one is the ability to call in an AC-130 gunship after eleven. The gunship is similar to the mission in COD4 where you are up in the plane looking down at the battlefield. eleven is a pretty large killstreak but once you reach it you will be greatly rewarded. Another great feature is the host migration system like how Halo 3 is set up, where if the host leaves the game, instead of ending the game it will be handed off to another player. They have stated that DLC will be coming out for the game but could be timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. This just seems like another “Up Yours” to the PS3 fans out there.

One thing to me that seems pointless is the amount of versions coming out for this game. There is a $150 dollar package that comes with actual working night vision goggles. To me, this package seems pointless, especially since Activision has so many games coming out this year over $100 but it will probably sell just fine.

I for one cannot wait to get my hands on this game. A couple things I would like to see if some of the greater maps from COD4 be moved over to this new game and for the single player campaign to be a bit longer than the original Modern Warfare. November 10th is going to be a huge day where Microsoft and Sony better have their servers to be bombarded by millions of gamers hungry to frag.

Like I say all of the time its. Mw2 vs KZ2 vs MAG vs BFBC2. Which one will win(not from sales and blinded COD geeks) but actually greatness.

if you ever say “seems to be more ranged than just shoot a bunch of Nazi zombies” i will hunt you down and bitch slap you.

    That is all

sorry but id much prefer nazi zombies, or another iteration of it

Treyarch is lame. They tried to make COD 4 with a WW2 story. Garbage. Nazi Zombies are just as lame. MW2>anything made by Treyarch ever(past, present & future). Treyarch did such a bad job at WAW that Infinity Ward dropped the Call Of Duty name to not be associated with such garbage. MW2 is going to be game of the year, hands down. If you want to disagree, tell me why. I will call you ignorant or a liar. If you don't like MW2 go kill yourself or I can come help you. :)

No Single Player campaign?!?! are those people crazy, thats like the best part !! thats probably the only reason that i buy Call of Duty games, cause i dont find the online really fun, i guess its ok, but there are a lot of better online games for me. Also, i think it would be awesome if treyarch made a modern warfare game, because world at war was the best Call of Duty game to me, with better graphics, nazi zombie mode more action packed and shootouts in the single player campaign and co op which was one of the best features, which is sad to here modern warfare 2 is kinda a downgrade in the campaign department.

  7. JIMBO OWWW says:

You should be shot. Treyarch is C R A P. Better Graphics? Yeah if you like everything dark brown. What's a better online game? I bet you were repeatedly raped online and gave up to play Viva Pinata multiplayer. Nazi Zombies? C R A P. If Activision let Treyarch make a modern warfare game it would be blasphemy. I have already decided to not buy another Call of Duty game because like I said, Treyarch fucked the last one up sooooo bad that Infinity Ward decided to drop it on Modern Warfare 2. Everyone has their opinion, mine is just the right one. MW2>Danny93's life. The price of modern warfare at a gamestop is higher than that of a world at war game? Why? Because world at war is garbage. Zombie deeeeeeeez nutz dumbass!

  8. Teabags says:

To be honest, I thought Treyarch did a fantastic job of World at War, and unlike Infinity Ward, they actually continued to support their game with a chain of DLC.

It's ridiculous how many pre-pubescent IW fanboys there are out there. I really hope MW2 crashses and burns this year, so selfish little kids like you wont think you know everything about game development.

  9. JIMBO OWWW says:

I am probably old enough to be your daddy little boy. The DLC with WAW was a way to keep people playing a shitty game with more crap. Extra zombie maps? This time IW is doing the special ops missions and is going to kill anything treyarch has ever thought of doing (until they steal the idea and people like you give undue credit). I'm not a fan boy by the way, I'm just a monster in the online game. Crash and burn? Yeah right. There's more of a chance that Bill Gates will wake up broke tomorrow.

Teabags happens to be 16, and he was on of the best writers on the site (Controversal yes. Good? Definetly) and he today still has a good judgement on most games, aside PS3 exclusives (<=D). Jimbo quite frankly your comments on this page have been im-mature and based only on your own opinion.

You're free to voice your opinion here, we encourage it in fact, but comments like:

“Everyone has their opinion, mine is just the right one. MW2>Danny93's life.”

“If you don't like MW2 go kill yourself or I can come help you. :)

    Are beyond fanboyism tbh =/

  11. JIMBO OWWW says:

Calm down. Most of the comments or reply's I put on here are a little extreme on purpose. It's a joke. I can be far more verbally abusive and close-minded. If I offended anyone, sorry. Guess I'll just have to post more often for my fans (jackpatton). ;) If you really go kill yourself because someone said your opinion is wrong on this forum you really have far deeper issues than your games of choice. And honestly to me, MW2>>>>>than (almost) anyone on here's life, because I don't know you, and I really don't care to. I love games, and came here because a friend asked me to check it out. Learn to take jokes ladies. Cuz I ain't goin' nowhere. Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
