Needlemouse Speculation.

With the reveal of SEGA’s new 2D side scroller codenamed “Project Needlemouse” (see ResumePlays coverage on that story here), most people put the pieces together and figured it was a next gen 2D Sonic.
Meanwhile, some of us have taken notice to the fact that the silhouette doesn’t really resemble Sonic all that much, unless this is how he’d look in his current art style (the only real emblem like that we have to compare with is the first games). Although its still pretty likely were looking at a new Sonic, and the character in question is indeed Sonic, I thought it would be fun to look at two characters I find just may be a perfect fit for such a silhouette.
Metal Sonic
I’m just saying those spikes resemble Sonic’s metal counterpart way more
then himself. In all honesty would this be a bad thing? Metal Sonic is by far my favorite Sonic villain, I’m almost hoping I’m actually right.
Espio
Another cool idea. Espio was actually pretty fun to play as in Sonic Heroes, so it could be a pretty fun time playing as him. Hopefully he still sports his gigantic ninja star to, along with not carrying around his two pals, which are quite possibly the two most annoying characters I’ve ever had a chance of seeing.
Apparently I’m not the only one pondering such idea’s. If you jump over to the SEGA blog (you can also see the teaser here), you’ll find all types of suggestions, along with these pretty funny idea’s photo-shopped into the image above.
Either or I’m beyond excited for this game, its been a long time since Ive enjoyed Sonic the way I used to. Sonic CD is still one of my favorite games of all time, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the new hardware. Hopefully no gimmicks this time around!
