5 Video Games that would make Good Movies

With Video games becoming more and more cinematic, all too many movies now have video game spin-offs. For every major motion picture, there is a corresponding game. Actual good games are being overlooked as Movie fodder. While there are some waiting in the wings, such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, many great games have only been whispered about as movies. Here is a List of some titles that could do with a Hollywood treatment:

Bioshock
While there is reportedly a movie already in the works, gamers still can’t figure out why this isn’t already a movie. The sorrowful tale of Rapture, as well as its breathtaking visuals lend easily to cinema. When it comes to a Bioshock, (and any other games on this list), the story must be followed as closely as is possible. One of the major difficulties involved in making a game into a working film is choosing what to omit, and what to keep; fitting several hours of game-play into a 2-3 hour time-frame can be tough. It could be produced as a trilogy, but finding a good point to end in anticipation of a sequel would be even more difficult. We all know Bioshock was a great game, who’s to say it couldn’t be a good movie?

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda games are some of the most highly regarded in the industry. Most tell of the story of an ancient power, The Triforce, which is sought by the evil Ganon. Ocarina of Time was the first to bring the scope of Hyrule to three dimensional video games, and would be the clear choice for a Movie Adaptation. Link, like many of the characters, would be difficult to cast, but his heroic struggle would thrill audiences as much as it thrilled gamers. His rescue of Princess Zelda could become as well-known as a movie scene as it is in cut-scene form.

God of War
The epic story of God of War, steeped in Greco-Roman mythology, could easily become a brilliant, thrilling movie if done right. Kratos, who is one of the most well-known characters in video games would make a striking appearance on screen. It would be necessary to find an unknown actor to fill Kratos’s shoes, er, sandals; forget names like John Cena and Dwayne Johnson. Serious steps would also have to be taken to follow the story and spirit of the game; anything less would only cheapen thegreat experience a God of War film could offer.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends
For those who don’t know, Skies of Arcadia tells a tale of endless treasure, where there is treasure, there will be Sky Pirates. Vyse, and his motley crew of bandits, must stop the Evil Valuan Empire from using ancient war machines to rule the world. These war machines, called Gigas, rival the Colossi in size, and are so powerful that they can only really be stopped by someone forcing their master to make them stop. Vyse not only has to stop the unbeatable Gigas, but also their power-hungry masters, all while being adored by nearly every girl that lays her eyes on him. Sounds to me like the next hit action movie.

Halo
It was needless to say that Halo would be on this list. The seven foot tall, ass kicking, covenant killing Master chief is an obvious action star. A Halo movie could come out, guns blazing, and entertain countless audiences. The biggest hazard of having a Halo movie wouldn’t even be finding all the right actors, producers, directors, and writers to make it; no, the Hardest part of seeing a Halo movie would be wading through the crowd of endless screaming fanboys. There is no doubt in my mind that a Halo movie would do well in the box office.
All in all, there are many games that would make good movies. The problem with video game to movie adaptations is finding the right people to make it, and keeping it as true to the game as the gamers want. With a lot of hope, and a bit of luck, gamers can expect to see quality games become quality movies once the two industries can learn to respect each other.

movies ruin games
There about a dozen or more so games which are currently/have been/or are about to be made into films which you havent mentioned. But of course, this list is opinionated based on the games you like, so carry on.
A 10 hour game like Bioshock or Halo may have 10 hours of gameplay, but not 10 hours of story … Bioshock, One halo game, or Uncharted 2 could easily be made into 2 hour movies. The cortana level probably takes 30 to 45 minutes to play right? You're saying that half a Halo would take place in that setting to settle one plot point (rescuing Cortana)? I would probably edit that level completely out of the movie …
No Metal Gear Solid? Breaking my heart…
u forgot uncharted 2. and they are already making a Warcraft movie
An “Uncharted: Drake's Fortune” movie has already been confirmed to be in development and, if the rumours are true, Hugh Jackman will be assuming the role of Nathan Drake.
A Bioshock movie has also been confirmed with Jerry Bruckheimer as the producer.
I really am hyped up for the Prince Of Persia movie, though. It looks better than any film that came out this year.
Metal Gear and Fallout 3 and nothing more..
