DSi seeks to ‘Augment Reality’

System Flaw’, the first ‘augmented reality shooter’ is coming out for DSi. It’s an innovative FPS that makes use of the built in camera to play. Players will be able to completely immerse their world into the world of gaming, and vice-versa. Oh, and did I mention this was a DSi game?
The main objective is to hunt aliens, called ‘The Flaw’. The Flaw are only visible on the DSi camera, and as players take pursuit, they must go from room to room stopping the fiends. The game has garnered great interest before its launch by being awarded the “Best Innovation” nomination by Agence Française pour le Jeu Vidéo.
With the announcement of this game and things like Project Natal, gamers must expect that games using a camera and motion capture will be the wave of the future. System Flaw certainly sounds interesting and fun, albeit tiring. Perhaps Nintendo’s obsession with getting gamers actually moving will at least be able to turn heads.

Someone playing ‘System Flaw’
There are supposedly over 100 levels of enemies that appear straight from real-time real-environments. It is being developed by Visual Impact, and hopes to revolutionize handheld gaming. It is also the first game to come from ENJOY Gaming, and promises to be a strong first product.
The US release was supposed to be October 27th, but is supposedly sometime later this week. The UK release will be in February 2010. No word yet as to why UK gamers must wait so long.
System Flaw looks fun to play, and is definitely innovative. Gamers will have to keep this title in mind.
