Final Fantasy XIII Not Using A Traditional Leveling System

According to andriasang, a Japanese gaming news site, Final Fantasy will not rely on the traditional leveling system found in most RPG games, but will use a new system they have named the Crystalium System. As you defeat enemies, you earn Crystal Points (CP) which is used to obtain new skills and abilities. Using this system will opens up new paths in the circular chart found in the Crystalium management window (this sounds similar to the license board found in Final Fantasy XII).

Not only will this handle new skills and abilities, but this will also upgrade your characters attributes like HP and luck. This sounds like an interesting way of handling everything that gets upgraded in Final Fantasy XIII. The game is still a ways away and still so much is unknown; so in the meantime we wait for more news like this to trickle out. If anything else is reported, we will let you know.
