Get Splashed: Console Fanboys
Why is it that everyone thinks that their console is better than all other consoles on the market? “Mine is better than yours because yours is different” seems to be the feeling around the gaming community. While some valid points are made, it boils down to being a fanboy of the console you own and not the facts. Here are some arguments that are made within gaming circles.
Sony Playstation 3
My PS3 is the best because it has the cheapest Blu-ray player on the market and plays games too. The hardware (mainly processor) is the best of the new generation of consoles by far and it makes the graphics phenomenal. I also have web access such as browsing and file sharing. I can play most of my PS2 games on it plus it has exclusives like the Uncharted series, God of War series, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5, Infamous, the Resistance series and the Ratchet & Clank series. My PS3 will never get the infamous RRoD(Red Ring Of Death) and the online multiplayer is free. Plus it makes my penis bigger!
Microsoft Xbox 360
My Xbox 360 is the hardcore gamer’s dream machine! We don’t need a Blu-ray player because we don’t watch movies- I’m too busy playing games. I’ve been playing longer too because my 360 came out way earlier than the PS3 and was cheaper so I can buy more games. I might have to pay $50 dollars a year for it but the online experience is way better. More people own 360s so it’s easier to make friends to play multiplayer with. Better players play on the 360 because we are so competitive and we have the offset sticks which make controls more precise. We also have our own exclusives like the Forza series, Gears of War series, Crackdown series, Project Gotham series and the Halo series. While we don’t have the most exclusives, we get games and DLC (downloadable content) days or even months before PS3. Plus it makes my penis bigger!
Nintendo Wii
I’m 8 years old and my Wii is awesome! I get all the Mario games, the Metroid games, and other cool stuff like the Pokemon games. My mommy says she loves the Wii because Wii Fit helps her look like she did before she had me. I don’t know what that means but the Wii is the coolest. I can also hit my little brother with the remote and say it was an accident. And if we had two Wiis we would have Wii Wiis.
The only two groups of people that can play the Nintendo Wii and lose no respect from their peers (Infants and the elderly)
My point is, get over your exclusive love for your console alone. There are pros and cons to each and there is no reason to say yours is better (unless I only had a Wii). We are all gamers and should unite for games and consoles in general. There have been plenty of times when I wished I had a different console because of an exclusive I didn’t get to play. So get over it and let’s make fun of Wiis together.

Terrible disappointment of an article. I thought you were going to give examples of idiocy from fanboys for each console and roundly make fun of them all for being idiots, but you had to BS when it came to the Wii. People wonder why game journalism isn't more respected. . . .

It's because these fanboys can only afford one game console so they tend to defend their purchase.

I'm 97.4% sure that this article, written by Resumeplay's humor columnist, is 100% based on satire. The object of this article wasn't to garner respect, it was to make us all consider why we “fanboy” our own console without realizing that it's a matter of preference. Each console has its very distinct pros and cons, some more than others.
This was written by a HUMOR columnist. His job on this site is to write humorous, satirical articles. While humor is a subjective term and may affect individuals on a varying scale, it's safe to say this article has not a shred of seriousness, and it's purpose is to make you laugh.
So you make an article about how fanboyism is a bad thing and then make a complete assclown out of yourself by attacking the Wii? Nice job.
For the record – i own both a Wii and a PS3 and yes, i use my PS3 much more but the Wii is NOT a bad console. Anyone who thinks the Wii is only for kids obviously doesn't follow the videogames industry very closely at all.

That was very funny and so very true! I own all 3 consoles because I like GAMES. I dont want to miss any of the exclusives for any system. I love watching every one flame away while I sit back and enjoy the benefits of what each console has to offer.
Well, I don't know much about Resumeplay. . . but it honestly did not seem that way. The 360 and PS3 consoles presented some humorous but pretty true examples of what was being said by fanboys from time to time, but the Wii entry just waved off the system as a child's thing with nothing to play on it. It's a bit lopsided.
Not that I should care, though. I own all three consoles and love them all. This just kind of annoyed me.
