First Impressions—Bayonetta Demo

Since I’ve heard the name, Bayonetta has caught my eye. Aside from the fact that it’s a sexy witch firing guns into enemies being slaughtered, it just has a certain style and flair to it that I enjoy. Now the demo has hit Xbox Live and the PSN for people to enjoy just a small taste of what to expect from this game. As I describe this, I’m going to assume you’ve already read about the game. If you haven’t, read about it first, then read this. Have you done so? Good, now hit the link for more.
The demo includes a simple tutorial to let you associate the buttons and do combos to your heart’s content. Bayonetta has a punch and kick attack, along with the action button that will fire one of her guns. Holding down either punch or kick will firing bursts from both guns associated with her hands and feet. Along with that, there is also a chart consisting of, what I’m going to assume is, her beginning combos for the game. All the combos are quite flashy and fulfilling in the “kicking ass” department, all of them ending with a giant hand or foot smashing through enemies. With a quick spinning flick of the joystick, you can also go into a mode where you’re able to aim at enemies rather than just firing straight forward.
Bayonetta also has “torture” moves that, at least seemed, instantly killed enemies. I imagine the real deal will have more, but the demo treated players to power kicking enemies into an iron maiden, or shoving them into the guillotine. Bosses get the courtesy of “Climax attacks.” Yes, you read that right. I mean come on; the game’s title is “Bayonetta, First Climax.” Rant aside, the climax for the boss you fight consisted of Bayonetta practically stripping, using her hair to form a large dragon that mows down on the boss.

Giant Boot of Doom +1
The game play is smooth, allowing the player to switch into whatever combo on the fly. However, the camera is quite awful in the game. Not controlling it works a lot better than trying to control it on the fly though. Another thing, is at least with the first level of the demo, there was so much going on that I had a hard time spotting when the enemies would strike. I could forgive that for the fact that you’re fighting on the side of a clock tower, falling off a cliff, while enemies swoop in to attack you. I’m not making this up.
Right now, I’m feeling pretty good about Bayonetta. It’s flashy, brutal, and downright sexy (which is what the creators were hoping for). If you liked Devil May Cry, you’ll probably like this. For now, keep it on your mental list, and check the reviews when it hits stores. For now, keep on gaming! Cheats, out.

I was actually in the middle of playing the demo when Danielle (Now my Fiance O-O) walked in to see the epic 'climax'.
Thankfully, since she is a gamer herself, the moment wasn't nearly as awkward as it could have been.
