Samorost 2 – Review (PC)

Developed by Amanita Design, Samorost 2 is the sequel to the free browser game Samorost 1. It is a short episodic adventure game where you have to help out this small space gnome seek out his dog after a couple of aliens kidnapped it. It is your job to help this little guy to get his best friend back through different areas of space. The first game and chapter 1 of Samorost 2 are available for free, which I thought was a great idea to get people interested in the story itself.

I really enjoyed the graphics of this game and the utilization of flash itself. I love flash games because flash allows you to play games through browsers for free. I like free. I’m sure other people like free, am I right? A free game is almost as good as free food, sometimes even better. The art that is used on this game is awesome. It was created well and was very dreamlike, which made the experience of this game even better. It felt as if you were taken to a different type of world where you could completely surround yourself with this storyline. I also liked the story line because it wasn’t too strong or weak. It made its point and allowed you to enjoy the adventures you were going on. The space gnome and his dog are very lovable characters that don’t get on your nerves. Since the beginning of the story, I was hooked. I had to buy the 2^nd chapter and finish the story, which was only $4.99. I really wanted to find out what was next and what other crazy characters were added.

I thought that some of the clues were a bit hard to find at first but I ventured throughout the area and found my way around. You definitely have to be thorough through each area or you won’t be able to advance to the next place you need to go to. I don’t really have any qualms about this game other than it being as short as it is. I look forward to new episodes and maybe a spin off for the taxi boat driver. What? I thought he was a great dancer, even though he does hit the bottle a lot and was passed out when I first met him. Okay, I have to admit that he may be not the best spin off character but it would be nice to continue on with the storyline with more episodes of adventures.

I really enjoyed playing this game and I would like to renew my continued hope of seeing other episodes developed. I’m glad to have had the chance to play the first part of this game for free and it actually got me hooked to the game in the first place. With the awesome graphics and interesting characters, I think other people would enjoy this game as much as I did. The different characters and the artistic style of the game add to the storyline. Try out the browser version and see if you get as hooked as I did.
