Heavy Rain immediately makes you realize this isn’t just any other game. During the install it will have you make your own little origami figure with a supplied, bloody piece of paper. Which, I might add, is the most creative way I’ve ever seen an install used.
Of course, that’s just the install. Heavy Rain is essentially one big quick-time event- even when y
ou have full control over your character you’re doing quick-time button presses to interact with the environment. What makes it so interesting is the button presses will strain your hands sometimes, which make it feel like you’re actually struggling with climbing a hill, or pushing an attacker.

I’d like to take a moment to voice my opinion on Bioshock 2 and some of the reviews its received. Most notably the idea that it was more of an expansion, and that we shouldn’t have paid full price. I for one am a huge fan of the first game and was more then thrilled with the second, which was everything I’d hoped for and more.

I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with all the bad press this game has been getting. In one review the online portion got a measly paragraph, which consisted of very little information and a lot of bad talk over scrolling through the Terms of Service (which I might add can be completely skipped by simply pressing right on the d-pad).

Not 100% gaming related, but for those PC owners out there this is really going to help as fuel for their Internet flamethrowers. Microsoft donated 1.25 mil to help rescue and feed the people suffering over in Haiti due to, as I’m sure you already know, the earthquake.
First of all, bravo Microsoft, on the list I viewed of the donations from companies in Canada and the US, they were the top in donations.
Secondly, Mac owners will probably be surprised to see that there not on the list at all, which I found very surprising.
You can view the full list after the jump, and if you can donate to helping the people in Haiti, you can do so right here.

For the first time in what I’ve been led to believe ever, RPG powerhouse tri-Ace is partnering with someone besides SquareEnix. Yes, that’s right, tri-Ace has removed itself from the safe and supple nipples of Square and latched itself onto SEGA’s increasingly good selection of games with their new RPG, End of Eternity (or Resonance of Fate for us here in North America).

If your wondering why you’ve never heard of FLaiL, its because its not actually a retail game, but rather a game made using the popular game making software conveniently entitled “Game Maker“. Of course, as to be expected, alot of the user made content isn’t very good, and only a fraction of these projects are completed and/or even displayed on the internet.
FLaiL, created in 2008 by Matt Thorson, is an exception.

Yes, you read that title correctly. The guys over at The Speed Gamers are using the world of Pokemon to help raise money for Ally’s House, a children’s cancer foundation based in Oklahoma.

Demon’s Souls developer From Software is at it again, except this time instead of polishing up the dungeon crawling genre, its instead bringing back the good old 8-Bit glory days in a creative new way.

Lets be honest, at this point its pretty clear Uncharted 2 will nab Game of the Year this time around, and rightfully so. The game pretty much re-sparked the adventure into games, was gorgeous and suspenseful all the way through and without any major faults. In the meantime though, there are a couple of other games whom deserve a little nod of the head.

“Reloading like this.. its a revolution!”
There was once a time that even us Sony fanboys had to admit that the only real big title we had was Metal Gear Solid 4 against Xbox 360’s roster of games. Sure there was Resistance, MotorStorm, Ratchet and Clank along with some others (cough, Genji: Days of the Blade), but for some reason they just didn’t have the impact of dropping the MGS bomb. Its hard to believe that our once holy grail of PlayStation 3 went through quite its share of controversy, and isn’t so high held by a lot of gamers to this day.

Most gamers aren’t new to comic books, in fact for a lot of us they kind of come hand in hand. With a good number of games being released with comic book styles and themes, its no wonder that they’ve also made comic books based on video games.
With the announcement of UDON’s Darkstalkers 3 issue comic book miniseries (expected to release early next year), I thought it would be a good time to take a look at some other games and characters that have made the jump from console to paper.

If you were around when I wrote up a preview for this game you may remember that I had pretty high expectations for it. After a slew of sleepless nights in front of my PlayStation and time spent looking at character builds online, I have come to my final conclusion on BioWare’s dark fantasy RPG. What makes this game so hard to come to a solid conclusion on is that for the most part, the content is there, it can just be difficult to use. Features are a plenty but often you’ll find yourself straining to use them, or disappointed that the game has made some decisions for you.
