Alan Wake, the brilliant-looking psychological thriller from Remedy has come out with some new screenshots. Now, I’m obviously not the only one who thinks so, but Alan Wake looks great. It’s been in development for what seems like an eternity, but judging from what I’ve seen, Alan Wake will be worth the wait.
Greed Corps is a RTS for XBLA that is unique in many ways. It creates tension in the game by forcing players to deal with terrain that is, well, destroying itself. Wholly an endurance game, and set up for multiplayer use, it is intriguing and unfortunately flawed.

Skate 3, the newest iteration of EA Blackbox’s ultra realistic skateboarding games. The innovative controls mimic the moves a skater and the board itself make. The game will feature a create-a-skatepark feature, Darkslides, and an entirely new city. The boxart shows a skater in an empty pool doing a noseblunt stall on the lip of the pool. The game is being released in May of this year, and personally, I can’t wait.

Warner Bros. Entertainment announced today that they have acquired a controlling stake in Rocksteady studios, the creators of Batman: Arkham Asylum. The move is unsurprising, considering WB already owns DC comics, and Rocksteady has created the highest rated Batman game of all time.

Dante’s Inferno, the game based on the Classic Poem, is one my favorite action games released in the past few months. Given some of the titles that have come out recently, that’s quite the accomplishment. The game takes an infamous poem in literary history, and adapts it to a gaming audience. There are major differences from the original, which would normally ruin a game for me but the experience is so enjoyable, I could look past the changes and recognize the game as its own entity.

Games all have their strong and weak points. They rely on many factors, but most importantly is the basis of all these: the idea. The idea behind a game is simple, to the point, sets up the everything that is encompassed. I, on my own time, have created a short list of Horrible game ideas that would make even more horrible games. Why, you might ask? I say: Why not?

Video games are are an escape. A stretch of the imagination, and reasonably unrealistic. Bosses and enemies that would rule the world if let loose. Now, obviously, no one would like a game if the enemies were all push-overs, and neither would they like if the enemies just decimated the hero. As I’ve said, most video game enemies would have no problem killing the average human, but here is a list of enemies that no human could ever hope to beat.

Darksiders is like a amalgamation of several classic games. It takes freely from such titles as Devil May Cry, God of War, and the entire Zelda Series. Now, many games try to do this, and fail. Darksiders, however, succeeds enough to not only be mentioned, but enough to be entered into the pantheon of great action/puzzle/platformers.

In just about every single game, there are enemies. Whether they be nazis, demons, your friends, dinosaurs, mice, or ninjas, there is something to be fought in every game. While most of these would decimate any normal human, especially in the numbers in which they are faced in games, there are some enemies that anyone could beat.

Aliens Vs Predator is set to have acclaimed actor Lance Henriksen in the game. His likeness and voice are set to appear in the game as a character. Whether or not he is playable has not been announced. He plays Karl Bishop Weyland, descendant of Charles Bishop Weyland (founder of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation from the Alien movies.)
“They’ve made me look very good,” said Lance Henriksen, “This is the first time I’ve been fully represented in a game, with my voice and how I look, and the Rebellion guys have done a great job. I might score from this game!”
The game launches in Feb of 2010, and will be on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Frankly, I’m getting a little tired of people saying a game is bad, simply because they aren’t Godlike on it. I grew up playing NES games while all my friends had N64s, and I guess I learned to appreciate what I have. I’ve heard hours of complaints levelled against games like Modern Warfare 2. People saying a game is bad because of the people that play it is ridiculous.

Allow me, if you will, to brag for a moment. Now, I make no claims as a video game master. I’ve got some skills, but I’ll never win a tournament, and I doubt I’ll ever launch the nuke in MW2, but I can beat most games on hard, and I think that’s something. Anyway, Over the years, I’ve had a few moments that made me stop and wish the whole world could have seen what I’d done. I figured this was my chance to do so; so let me present for you my 3 coolest kills.
