Why Michael Atkinson’s Campaign Is A Waste Of Time and Money

michael-atkinson-mugshot

You’ve probably already heard of a man called Micheal Atkinson, and if you’re an Australian gamer then you more than likely hate the hipocritical twat more than anyone. He is the attorney-general of South Australia, a position with an unfortunately large amount of power, and the one of the most hated men in the minds of gamers. Due to this man’s stupid vendetta against games, developers must constantly delay & censor their games before they finally get to the Australian market or get outright banned all together.

Resumeplay reviews The Saboteur

the-saboteur-e3-2009-16

The scene is a tavern, modest if not danky. Theres a clear tense division at the bar, one end a group of french, the other two irishmen. Everything goes well until a certain topic runs foul and a brutal, but fecking brilliant, brawl ensues. Now enough about the aftermath of the world cup qualifiers, let’s talk about Pandemic’s swansong; The Saboteur.

Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy Review

old-snake-with-solid-eye

Before I begin I suppose I should own up. This isn’t the ACTUAL movie that Sony is trying to push. No, this is a non-profit fan made movie made with no capital or resources. The makers are Hive Division, a semi-professional production studio, who really really deserve a goddamn medal. The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done.

It Is ALIVE!!!

i-am-alive

E3 2008, Ubisoft announced an upcoming survival game titles “I Am Alive” with a interesting launch trailer included.

There, ladies & gentlemen, the press for this game halts. No trailers, no conference, nothing. All we get is a slow, and very vague, leaks of information of which I will now compile into something readable.

The Dos & Don’ts of: Metal Gear Online

metal-gear-online

I realise that, since my name is publicly scorned by every Killzone fan in existence for my previous article, you may be very tempted to skip this and go straight to the comment section and deliver a carefully worded, and painful, insult. If you’re that kind of person go on ahead. I accept I am not the most professional of writers, I know I’m blandly offensive, and I apologise in advance for any controversy the future could bring. Now I suppose I’ll stop this pointless apology, you’re gonna hate me regardless, and get on with my job of delivering something for you to read.

Metal Gear Online is far from the most followed online shooter, in fact it has only reached one million individual accounts, and is basically a cult following. The main reason would be the frustrating and confusing register method of having to sign up for a KONAMI account prior to actually playing, unlike most games that simply use your PSN/XBL. It is basically this problem alone that hampers the number of people who play MGO. In the beginning, everyone began on a level playing field. Everyone was subject to lag, unsure about controls, was fresh to the game. However as the months would pass the men were separated from the boys and the game today is very much a two-tiered experience, so much so that KONAMI has created an exclusive tournament for it’s better players. So in this battlefield, when in every game lurks a pro who would be able to kill you & your entire team a dozen times over without effort, there are some golden rules you should always follow. As well as idiot mistakes you must be avoiding.

How do you like me now? – Killzone 2

killzone2flashandthunder

"I'm sure I saw that sniper round here somewhere."

Since the dawn of PS3, one of the most frequent phrases uttered by the millions of SONY supporters was ‘Killzone 2 is gonna rock’ and rock it did but here’s the thing. Killzone 2 is one of, if not the, most critically acclaimed games of 2009. So of course, you get the millions of fanboys, or maybe just Killzone fans, immediately hailing it as gaming perfection. If I’m honest for the first ten hours, I thought it was perfect too. Then I finally said, you’re a critic Jack  stop loving it so much.

So then I started replaying the game to find faults, and it wasn’t very hard. This article/re-review will look at things you perhaps missed, or more likely deny. As I write this I’m struggling on what I should do, do another review of a game long enough past or just list off my complaints in the style of a writer in anguish…I’ll go with the review.

Ghostbusters: I LOOKED AT THE GAME RAY! (Review)

ghostbusters

1995, I huddle close to the TV as the Ecto-1 screeches out of the Ghostbuster’s HQ and tears down the Manhattan streets with the goddamn iconic theme song playing on and on as my tiny four year old brain laps it all up while my stressed mother shouts at me to “TURN THE F***ING VOLUME DOWN!” But I don’t listen because the silly woman doesn’t understand what the movie I am watching means to me. Simply put, I was a Ghostbusters fan the moment the song hit my TV screen. I watched it dozens, if not hundreds of times, and I forced every single one of my friends to watch it as well, and if they didn’t like it then they weren’t my friends much long after that.

2009, now seventeen and less mature, Atari is kind enough to share with me a copy of the new Ghostbusters game. My expectations are that it’ll be at least decent. In my experience movie based games are rarely something to scream about, but as I put the disk into my PS3 a little voice says “but Jack, it’s GHOSTBUSTERS!” Oh how tight you are my little inside voice, now shut up until the next counselling meeting damn you.

Prototype Review

prototype-cover-image

Fanboys be damned, I’ve reviewed inFamous and now I shall take aim at Prototype. Lets see what sort of reaction this gets eh? (I have a bet on the answer) Since the release of both games, Microsoft fanboys have rallied behind Prototype while PS3 fanboys stuck by precious Sony. Now explain to me this, how does a game that is MULTIPLATFORM become Microsoft’s answer to inFamous? Let it be fanboys, just let it be.

Agent: How it, might’ve, came to be

agent

Cast your eyes back to our E3 prediction lists and then look up the four predictions I submitted. I got several mail & angry worded comments labeling me a fanboy for this, UP YOURS GUYS, but yes I was right. For those who didn’t read my predictions, one of the few things I said was “Rockstar would announce their new PS3 exclusive franchise.” Now the new question is, how did I work this out and why is Rockstar so two-faced when it comes to 3rd party deals. On the one hand, they dish out Xbox360 exclusive content for GTAIV, and then on the other they turn around and announce an exclusive game to the PS3. Many would expect this to be multi-platform, and some fanboys will hold onto that, but I’ll save you the bother by explaining how and why Agent came to be, then lightly touch on what it’s actually going to be.
