When I first heard of Halo legends I was pretty annoyed as I thought to myself at how they could pull off making this into an anime. But then I learned several big name anime studios would be working on it such as the makers of Ghost in the Shell, I said “Hey why not, I’ll give it a chance”.
Welcome to the first post of Resume Play Movies! Not only are we conquering the video game world day by day, but now we are taking on the cinematic world as well. Each week I’m going to write a little article about a few of the movies I’ve seen recently. Sometimes I’ll do retro reviews, sometimes I’ll just write posts about certain movie topics. As far reviews go, I wont take up your whole page with a review unless I’ve got a whole lot to say about a particular movie. Most of my posts will be containing several movies, just to give our readers a little insight to go on. I will occasionally add spoilers in the reviews, so if you feel the need to bitch about it, do me a favor and stop while you’re ahead. Otherwise, enjoy! +Continue Reading
With Video games becoming more and more cinematic, all too many movies now have video game spin-offs. For every major motion picture, there is a corresponding game. Actual good games are being overlooked as Movie fodder. While there are some waiting in the wings, such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, many great games have only been whispered about as movies. Here is a List of some titles that could do with a Hollywood treatment:
In case you haven’t already seen it, the first official trailer for the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time film was just released. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as The Prince and Ben Kingsley as, I can only assume the, The Vizier; the film releases in May 2010.
Before I begin I suppose I should own up. This isn’t the ACTUAL movie that Sony is trying to push. No, this is a non-profit fan made movie made with no capital or resources. The makers are Hive Division, a semi-professional production studio, who really really deserve a goddamn medal. The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done.
It is no secret to the gaming world that games based on movies…for the most part, suck horribly. I can’t count on two hands the amount of games that are crapped out into the gaming industry and stockpiled onto the shelves of our favorite over-pricing electronic retail stores. These aren’t just games shelled out to make money for blockbuster summer hits like Iron Man, and Pirates of the Caribbean. I’m talking about games that are awful movies, and make the unsurprising transition into awful game. These games appear on every system, from Charlie’s Angels on PS2, to Lethal Weapon on NES. I think there is a major problem with the way the games are made, but I also think that if you’re going to make a video-game based on a movie or story, it should be one that would transfer over well. Here are five movie/story plots that could make excellent games if designed correctly.
VenerableBmoney: @tabbwabb yea. Fantastic indeed. It is a game where, for good or bad, the ending makes u accept the consequences of your choices. EPIC. 2 hours ago
