EA had a quarterly conference call today where they talked about upcoming games and when they would be releasing. With every thing from a new Dragon Age to EA sports active being discussed it was a pretty packed.
First up is Dragon Age. Yep Bioware is apparently busy building it and Mass Effect 3. Both of which are getting slated in the “early” 2011 range. It may seem like a lot but Bioware has proven with both games that it is capable of building great games.
Next up is the Medal of Honor reboot. This is gonna be a huge game for EA if it does well and steals some of that Modern Warfare crowd. Along with the new MoH is APB. The long talked about MMO is finally getting a release window of Summer 2010!
Also getting release dates are Ea Sports Active, Crysis 2, Sims 3 (Consoles), and NBA Jam all got set for Holiday 2010
We should have seen this coming with the second installment of Indiana Jones, LEGO Star Wars is getting its next chapter centered around the Clone Wars. The press release from today claims it will have brand new gameplay and it will be the most action-packed LEGO game to date. Now I’m not one to complain, but I do believe I have played a large portion of these games and they are all basically the same thing with different skins, but I’m always up for trying new things, so hopefully this won’t disappoint. +Continue Reading
Dante’s Inferno: Trials of St. Lucia has been scheduled to release on April of this year. The DLC will be a 2 player co-op experience where a one plays as Dante while the other is in the role of St. Lucia, also a character from Dante Alighieri’s epic poem. Have fun experiencing hell with a friend come this April.
There has been a lot of talk about the state of Rockstar’s western epic. Several rumors reporting that the game is extremely buggy and taken too long to complete. Rockstar has said several times that Red Dead is progressing well and will be releasing. So for now check out these new screens!
Sony showed ModNation Racers off last year at E3 and it was very well accepted. It was basically marketed as Little Big Planet the Cart Racer. Giving players the ability to create and share their own custom tracks over PSN. Now a PSP version will be hitting the shelves side by side with its big brother. Both games will also share content across the PSN. Meaning if you create a track on your PSP, you and your friends will be able to race and play that same level on your PS3. This sounds like a great idea and I might actually pick this up. I am in dire need of a reason to pick up my PSP again.
So yeah, another Sonic game has been announced. Only this time THEY PROMISE it will be more like the old school Sonic that we all grew up with. In the trailer above it does look better and is in 2D. The confusing thing is they also announced that Sonic 4 will be episodic and the first episode will be releasing in the summer. This game is also said to be a direct sequel so Sonic and Knuckles for the Genesis. I am not really sure I want another Sonic even if it is more old school. There are so many more better platformers out there right now that have moved the genre ahead. If your not interested you still need to hit play on the trailer so you can hear the “Sega” intro…you can’t turn that down!
Bethesda has finally released a little info on Fallout New Vegas in the form of a teaser trailer and a 2010 release window. With Obsidian getting to develop this time around it should make for an interesting comparison to Fallout 3. It does look as though the game is really going to embrace that old school vegas vibe with everything from the music to the look of the new logo. I am sure we will start hearing much more around E3 time and most likely see some gameplay!
Well, as most of us in the gaming universe know, 2K Marin’s highly anticipated (that may be an understatement) sequel to the dystopian shooter Bioshock is scheduled for full-platform release on February 9, 2010. Throughout the past few months, little details of the game’s story have been leaked, to the point where we pretty much know who we’re playing as and who our likely antagonist is. Set 10 years after the events of the first game, Bioshock 2 promises a new world of challenges set in the constantly de-evolving underwater city of Rapture. With Andrew Ryan long gone, Sofia Lamb has taken the helm of Rapture, and her ideas directly oppose the “individuality” of Ryan’s philosophy.
Not much going on this week in the land of video games. While there aren’t many games releasing there are still a few of them that are worth checking out. Star Trek Online, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , and White Knight Chronicles are all fairly big releases and all have the potential to be great games. Although, it might be best to save your money for next week considering that Bioshock 2 and Dante’s Inferno are both releasing!
March 16th. Thats the day Sony fans have been waiting for ever since Uncharted 2 was released. Finally they get to resume the role of Kratos and just bash some skulls in. Also released was the final box art, along with a new trailer will be hitting February 11th. Now would be a great time to go hit up the God of War Collection on blu-ray and start bashing the rust of your skills. This year should be very interesting with huge blockbusters like God of War and Mass Effect hitting early. Will they be forgotten by December when Game of The Year votes start coming around…?
Well this week there are a TON of games getting released along with a couple of DLC packs. The biggest being Mass Effect 2, MAG and the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed II. I personally have been looking forward to ME2 for a long time and all these other games are getting put on hold for that. Although if you have a PS3 MAG is definitely worth looking into. Since it is a game based around online multiplayer it would probably be a good idea to wait a week or so to jump in because there will more than likely be server issues. On the Wii side of things we have the fan favorite No More Heroes 2. So for you Wii fans heres a hardcore game that might pull you away from wii fit and whatever else it is you do with that thing… Check out the rest of the games below!
Ubisoft just posted on their twitter that the first DLC for AC2 will be available January 28th. Battle of Forli will be releasing on XBLA and PSN for 320 MS Points or $3.99. The biggest surprise here is that price point, I can’t remember the last time a piece of DLC came out and wasn’t at least $5 and most of the time $10. Battle of Forli will include 6 new memories to play and will have you teaming up with some more famous dead people. So lets hope Ubisoft keeps up this awesome pricing and please keep the AC2 DLC coming!
The Playstation Motion Controller will no longer be releasing this spring and will instead release in the fall. The main reason sited for this was to build a more robust launch lineup for the peripheral. Rumors have been flying around about what the name of this thing will be and if that huge red orb will still be present. I did think that getting a early release was crucial to this peripherals success. Just getting out there before Natal and getting that mindshare first would have been huge.
This week in games brings a plethora of titles I have never heard of. The biggest game this week is probably Dark Void coming out for 360, PS3 and PC. Another big game is Death By Cube developed by Square Enix. For you PSP owners out there you get your first chance to play Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. So there you go, this week isn’t bad but next week will be even better with Mass Effect 2!
