We should have seen this coming with the second installment of Indiana Jones, LEGO Star Wars is getting its next chapter centered around the Clone Wars. The press release from today claims it will have brand new gameplay and it will be the most action-packed LEGO game to date. Now I’m not one to complain, but I do believe I have played a large portion of these games and they are all basically the same thing with different skins, but I’m always up for trying new things, so hopefully this won’t disappoint. +Continue Reading
So yeah, another Sonic game has been announced. Only this time THEY PROMISE it will be more like the old school Sonic that we all grew up with. In the trailer above it does look better and is in 2D. The confusing thing is they also announced that Sonic 4 will be episodic and the first episode will be releasing in the summer. This game is also said to be a direct sequel so Sonic and Knuckles for the Genesis. I am not really sure I want another Sonic even if it is more old school. There are so many more better platformers out there right now that have moved the genre ahead. If your not interested you still need to hit play on the trailer so you can hear the “Sega” intro…you can’t turn that down!
Not much going on this week in the land of video games. While there aren’t many games releasing there are still a few of them that are worth checking out. Star Trek Online, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , and White Knight Chronicles are all fairly big releases and all have the potential to be great games. Although, it might be best to save your money for next week considering that Bioshock 2 and Dante’s Inferno are both releasing!
Travis Touchdown returns this week in the sequel title Desperate Struggle from Grasshopper Manufacture. As I watched footage of the game it seemed relatively close the the gameplay and combat in the first No More Heroes. Although the Combat in the first NMH was fun it did get a bit repetitive after a while having to fight many of the same enemies over and over but maybe Desperate Struggle will change that formula. Suda51 has confirmed in previous interviews: “Expect some really cool new wrestling moves,” and there will no be more Beam Katanas to choose from including the new Giant Beam Katana. Contrary to Suda 51 previous comments on Wii MotionPlus — there is no usage of the peripheral in the game.
Well this week there are a TON of games getting released along with a couple of DLC packs. The biggest being Mass Effect 2, MAG and the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed II. I personally have been looking forward to ME2 for a long time and all these other games are getting put on hold for that. Although if you have a PS3 MAG is definitely worth looking into. Since it is a game based around online multiplayer it would probably be a good idea to wait a week or so to jump in because there will more than likely be server issues. On the Wii side of things we have the fan favorite No More Heroes 2. So for you Wii fans heres a hardcore game that might pull you away from wii fit and whatever else it is you do with that thing… Check out the rest of the games below!
I hope that everyone has been trying to keep track of Epic Mickey. I was already excited after reading some of the game info and going through the art. I’m now even more excited that it has a set storyline and a release date. Hit the link for more!
This week in games brings a plethora of titles I have never heard of. The biggest game this week is probably Dark Void coming out for 360, PS3 and PC. Another big game is Death By Cube developed by Square Enix. For you PSP owners out there you get your first chance to play Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. So there you go, this week isn’t bad but next week will be even better with Mass Effect 2!
Polish developer Nibris announced their working title horror for the Nintendo Wii back before the console was even released. In fact the game was announced back when little was known about “The Nintendo Revolution” in March of 2006. The last bit of news the public received from this mysterious game was the developers choice for a game engine; Gamebryo. The title is set in the pre-WWI era of Eastern Europe where you play as an aristocrat, Maria who is to protect her blind son after a train accident. The horrific adventure is supposed to be based on old Slavic legends. Their mini-site states the trailer is “coming soon” and that the title is slated to release in fall of 2009 — which obviously hasn’t happened. For more about the game click on the picture above, and make sure to stay tuned when more information is revealed to the public.
Finally, after this spring all the major consoles will have the Netflix instant streaming ability. Not only is this huge for Nintendo but its even bigger for Netflix. Now they can reach that casual demographic who probably has no idea what a Roku box is and probably already owns a Wii. Like the Playstation 3, the Wii’s Netflix will require a Netflix disc to be in the console for the instant streaming to function. I expect Netflix subscribers to jump tremendously when this thing releases. You will need to have a Netflix subscription which will cost you a paltry $8.99 a month. Its worth every penny considering all the full seasons of tv shows and great movies you’ll have at your finger tips any time you want!
UPDATED:You can now reserve your instant streaming disc for Wii HERE
This morning EA Sports confirmed with a press release that they are indeed developing and re-make of the classic NBA Jam. For now it has only been announced for the Wii and according to Peter Moore the game will also stay true to its roots. “NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history, Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise” said Moore. The game will also introduce some new game modes and abilities along with the classic style that is NBA Jam. Check back for more info!
This week’s games have a little something for everyone. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for the Wii, The Sims 2: Fun with Pets for PC, and of course Army of Two 40th Day for Xbox 360 and PS3. Another notable game releasing is Serious Sam HD for Xbox 360. This is just the beginning of a crazy next few months so get your wallets ready!

Rumors have been flying and ESPN reports that EA sports has acquired the NBA Jam license and is working on a new NBA Jam. The catch is that according to the report it is only going to be available on the Wii. Although, there are other reports which suggest the game will also get the XBLA and PSN treatment along with a Wii retail release. The creator of the original NBA Jam now works for EA and is said to be collaborating on the project. This isn’t EA’s first time at a arcade basketball game, if you remember the “Street” series that EA used to do. Some of those were pretty good games and I am sure that this reboot is going to fill that void. It also could have to do with the success of the more arcade version of Madden that is available on the Wii. Remember this is just a rumor and we will post when more concrete details emerge.
Another year in gaming has finally come to pass, and I”m not sure that I could really ask for a better one. The year started out with fantastic releases, continued to shovel them out through the summer, and ended the year with a crucial big-bang of best-sellers to knock us all on our butts. I can safetly say that this has been one of the best (and most anticipated) years in gaming to hit us in a long time. I purchased so many games that I’ve yet to complete them all. However, the main answer to the question we all want to ask remains to be seen. In a year chock-full of amazing games, which one reigns supreme above the rest? Here are the top three picks from some of Resume Play’s staff for 2009’s Game of the Year award +Continue Reading
With how successful Mega Man 9 was, a sequel was sure to be announced. I’m glad they continue to do games like this, but I almost feel like this is a little soon. Still though, we can’t have too many Mega Man games now can we. Originally leaked out of a screenshot from a Nintendo Power magazine, Mega man 10 will continue the old school retro platforming gameplay that we all know and love/get frustrated with. Skepticism was initially sparked that it would only be coming to the Wii but Capcom’s press release squished that rumor; it will also be coming to the PS3 and the Xbox 360 (thank god I can play on the 360 with that amazing d-pad of theirs).
So what’s new with this entry. Mega Man 10 is set in 20XX where a crazy robot flu named Roboenza is spread out that will bring the robots to their knees. All the robots in the city are servants to the humans (lazy humans) that get Roboenza. The robots goes crazy and hold the city hostage which means its up to Mega Man to take out all the sick robots (including the hilariously named sheep man). This game will feature an Easy Mode which should help the new fans that want to start the Mega Man series with this one, the ability to play as Proto Man from the beginning without gamers feeling nickel and dimed with DLC, and a new mode called Challenges that sounds like practice stages to help with the main game. The press release contains no release date, but in the meantime check out these high resolution screenshots all in their 8-bit glory +Continue Reading
For the first time last night I watched the Spike Video Game Award show. I had avoided it up until now and the only thing that pulled me in to watch this year were some of the surprise game announcements. There were quite a few first look trailers from some very big games coming in 2010. For the entire list of award winners and to check out the trailers hit the JUMP!
