Tecmo Bowl Throwback Now Official

It was rumored a while back that a new Tecmo Bowl game would be making its way to Xbox and PS3. Now it is finally official with Tecmo releasing the details and even some screenshots on Tecmo Bowl Throwback. The game will feature new updated graphics but will have the ability to switch back and forth between the old school and new school looks sort of like Monkey Island did last year.

Most importantly it will have online multiplayer and even leaderboards! It also has customizable teams and rosters and will feature 32 teams in total. All 3 game modes from the original will also be returning so you can play an entire season or just head out for the pro bowl. The game will be releasing some time this spring but for now you can check out the screens below!

New Trailer: Greed Corp Universe

This game looks very interesting. Like a lot of PSN and XBLA titles it seems to have a character to it that many full releases don’t. For now all we have is the trailer but keep checking back for more info!

Risk: Factions announced for XBLA

According to a EA press release today, Risk: Factions is coming to Xbox Live Arcade in early 2010. From the same developers of Magic the Gathering for XBLA, Risk: Factions is supposed to have “new gameplay features” and challenge new and old Risk players. “We’re now going to bring that masterpiece experience to life and add other amazing layers of XBLA-style gameplay that will take conquests to a new level, including the ability to battle players from around the globe for the first time, truly giving new meaning to the phrase world domination,” said Chip Lange, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Hasbro Division. Top Five XBLA Games

Xbox_live_arcade_logoFor a lot of you out there, the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) offerings are either too expensive or not appealing enough to warrant inclusion in your game collection.  Personally, I look at the XBLA games as a great supplement to any gamer’s repertoire, as well as an opportunity to boost one’s gamerscore by up to 200 points per game.  I own about 18 arcade games, and a lot of them were bought cheaper than you’d expect, at discount (Xbox has a weekly special and a “discount” bin of arcade games).

Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled (XBLA)

header1

I’m going to start out by saying Turtles in Time is one of my favorite side-scrolling brawlers, so I had been looking forward to the remake/remix for quite some time. For once Xbox has brought one of my childhood brawling games to 3D, and is giving me the chance to play it with other people across the world. Needless to say, I was ready for the game…but leave to the new age of gaming to make me take them to (and pay for) dinner and a movie, and chocolate shakes afterward…and not even get a few minutes of make-out time.

The Retro Vault: Dragon’s Lair

Had you been loitering around arcades back in 1983, you’d have seen an astonishing looking game called Dragon’s Lair. Grabbing some change from the kiosk, you’d immediately rush over to the machine, shovel in all your cash and quickly realise why no one else was playing it… Dragon’s Lair’s incredibly cartoon-like visuals (created by ex-Disney animator Don Bluth) came with a very high price – gameplay.

Xbox Live/PSN Arcade Version of MvC2 Not Paving The Way For Sequel

mvc21

I had very high hopes of some sort of video/playable demo release of  Marvel vs. Capcom 3 this year at E3, especially since there was mention of it at the San Deigo ComiCon this past year. Those hopes were only brought to an even higher level when hearing about Marvel vs. Capcom 2’s addition to Xbox Live Arcade/PSN. Those hopes of mine were crushed into tiny bits when Capcom’s Seth Killian stated to Joystiq at a media event: “What we’re hoping is that if people get really juiced about this title, and we can show Marvel that there’s a lot of heat behind this, then they’ll open the doors for us to do something with (MvC)3.” As of now, there is no direct runway between the re-release of MvC2 and MvC3, and I know, gamers…it hurts. It really hurts.

There are rumors of sweet new customized MvC2 arcade stick stations that will be sold for the release of the game online, but nothing confirmed as of now. Keep your ears open!

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Coming April 8th to XBLA

puzzlequestgalactrix1

After the let down of the DS version of Galactrix, publisher D3 is hoping the second installment will return to hit status on Xbox Live Arcade. The game combines the same puzzles and rpg elements that made the first so enjoyable. One major difference is the price, this time around its gonna set you back 1600 microsoft points. For those of you not familiar with the exchange rate thats 20 US dollars. That seems a little outrageous for an arcade game. We will find out April 8th if it lives up to the price point and the hype.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts DLC Confirmed

banjokazooie

The L.O.G. (Lord of Games) lost challenges expansion pack has been announced holding some great new content that gamers will be able to download on April 7th. There will be a total of 12 new missions for you along with 7 new multiplayer games. The contest winners from RARE’s “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” fan vehicle design contest will be included but must be unlocked by using the Stop ‘N’ Swop feature within “Banjo-Tooie” on Xbox LIVE Arcade which will release later this Spring. I advise everyone that had a great time building their dream machines within Nuts and Bolts should strongly consider this new addition for the low price of 400 Microsoft Point.
