Mass Effect 2 Review

Elcor Diplomat: “Amazed response, Bioware.  Mass Effect 2 exceeds all expectations.”  Sadly, there isn’t much dialogue from my favorite alien race, the Elcor.  Other than that, Bioware’s sci-fi sequel succeeds resoundingly at creating the same “black, white, or in between” choices that matter, and simultaneously reflect real-life problem solving processes.  The most annoying part of Mass Effect 2, as a reviewer, is this: how do you review a game by running through it as quickly as possible and exploring everything, with the game all the while telling you to slow down and enjoy the rich environments Bioware has created?  What a paradox.  But without further ado, hit the jump for the most anticipated review of 2010 (thus far).

Bioware: Launch Day Mass Effect 2 DLC Will Be Free

According to a tweet by Bioware, the first DLC will be available for Mass Effect 2 at launch and will be free. Rumors say the DLC will have some armor and a few new missions for Commander Shepard. Bioware has been saying from day 1 that their DLC for this game will far exceed anything they did for ME1. Nothing is better than free DLC, lets just hope there is plenty more that follows.

Mass Effect 2: The Classes Detailed

Over the past few months Bioware has been releasing short videos showing off the player classes of Mass Effect 2. Not only are all of the classes different but they have really built upon the biotics and equipment available to the player. Even from these short 2 min videos you can see just how much the combat has improved from the first game. EA officially revealed the first expansion for Dragon Age Origins. The Awakening is dated for March 16th and is going to set you back 40 dollars. The Awakening takes place after most of the events in Origins. It puts the player in the shoes of a new Grey Warden Commander who will fight new monsters in a new arena called Amaranthine. This expansion will also increase the level cap and introduce new items, new spells, and a plethora of other goodies.

Dragon Age: Origins Review (PS3)

If you were around when I wrote up a preview for this game you may remember that I had pretty high expectations for it. After a slew of sleepless nights in front of my PlayStation and time spent looking at character builds online, I have come to my final conclusion on BioWare’s dark fantasy RPG. What makes this game so hard to come to a solid conclusion on is that for the most part, the content is there, it can just be difficult to use. Features are a plenty but often you’ll find yourself straining to use them, or disappointed that the game has made some decisions for you.

Dragon Age: Origins Preview

Lately, RPG fans have received more then their fair share of games. With Borderlands just released in what feels like days after Demon’s Souls, and games like the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy constantly looming in the shadows, its hard not to feel a little overwhelmed. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Dragon Age: Origins is shaping up to being an RPG your not going to want to push to the side.

Mass Effect: Jacobs Story for iPhone

meiphone
Mass Effect is one of my favorite RPG’s of all time. Bioware and EA have now decided to move Mass Effect onto the rapidly growing iPhone. The strangest part of this announcement is that nothing has been said about a DS or PSP version. Are companies already starting to skip over the two handhelds for Steve Job’s sexy cell phone?
