Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review (Xbox 360)

Bad Company 2 has some serious competition, having arrived after the likes of the Modern Warfare series and the epic story that it told through the single player. Bad Company is up for the challenge, making a game that is vastly superior to the first while poking fun of the competition which helps set the mood that is the Bad Company atmosphere. Dice knows how to make a fun multiplayer experience, but the single player of the first bogged the title down and didn’t make the dent it needed to be that great title that gamers talk about for years. I can safely say Bad Company 2 is overall a better game, making the story more enjoyable to play through and creating a new layer to the multiplayer to keep you coming back for more.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 TV Spot

A nice looking trailer for a great looking game. Will it be able to bring down its competitor MW2 (or at least steal some of its fans) or will it the multiplayer be cast aside. The trailer shows off some great looking graphics, but like every bad trailer, would rather see more gameplay than cutscenes from the game.

Dreamkiller – Review (PC)

Dreamkiller_scr

I personally love the survival horror genre but I decided to try out something a little different. As I was looking around on Steam, I found Dreamkiller developed by Mindware Studios, which seemed to have an interesting plot. During the beginning cutscene, you are introduced to its main character, Alice Drake, where she explains that she uses her ability of entering dreams to assist her patients. She continues on saying that she sometimes has to remind herself where her mind begins and her patient’s mind ends. If you’ve seen Nightmare on Elm Street 3, the main character Kirsten can bring other people into her dreams. This is basically the same idea but instead of fearing just one child-killing maniac with one-liners, it’s a variety of monsters created by the many phobias that Alice’s patients have. +Continue Reading

Review: Modern Warfare 2

modern-warfare-2

Reviewing the biggest game of the year is something akin to being a highly touted college basketball player- sure, you’re having fun playing basketball, but there’s a tremendous level of expectation involved in the process.  One one hand, fairness is a necessity, and on the other, how do you not see what other reviews have said?  Anyway, without further ado, ResumePlay’s review of Infinity Ward and Activision’s highly anticipated entry into the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 2.

Borderlands Review: XBox 360

borderland2

When you first start playing Borderlands, a few things will cross your mind.  The first is the similarity between it and Fallout 3.  However, besides the whole apocalyptic setting and some similar level up/game-play, there are quite a few discernible differences. In my personal opinion, one of the greatest things about the game is the quirky dialogue throughout the whole thing.  This dialogue comes from interactive characters that give you side missions, plot info, and also random one liners from enemies and your playable character.

Hands-On: Left 4 Dead 2 Scavenge Mode

left_4_dead_2_survivors

Left 4 Dead 2 has been trying to prove its worth since it was announced back at this year’s E3. This time round Valve is now offering five new campaigns and two new game modes, one of which is Scavenge mode. So when I saw that Eurogamer had this mode ready to play (as Survivors or Infected), I would of gladly hit several people with a frying pan to play it.

Future of FPS Games

fpspic1

First person shooters have taken us to a world of places. We’ve traveled the deepest seas, Mars, the D.C. wastelands, countless alien spacecrafts… the list could can go on and on. Could they possibly be running out of ideas with this genre? We’ve seen a ton of new ideas this past couple of years and hopefully they continue to push the genre forward. I’m here to analyze some of the FPS games that are in their planning stages and discuss some ways to keep the genre fresh

The Conduit Review

theconduitheaderpic

When this game was first announced, I was very excited for it and wanted it to be great. The lack of FPS games on the Wii boggled me; it seems like the Wiimote is the perfect controller for this type of genre. Let me tell you that High Voltage hit it just right; the controls are the best part of this game. The sad truth though is that the controls are the best part, not the story, graphics, or gameplay. The Conduit is too rooted in the past to hang with the big boys of this generation but is still an overall good game to play, for as long as it lasts… which wasn’t even six hours for me.

Why is no one playing Unreal Tournament 3 anymore?

unrealtournamte3pic1

Yes, this is a post that is posing as a question to everyone reading it that is interested in online FPS games. I just recently picked up the PS3 version BRAND NEW for around $13 dollars and was excited to be jumping into this game again. I quickly jump on the PlayStation store download the Titan Map Pack, which is free by the way, and quickly jump into a game of free-for-all deathmatch.  I play a couple games and then decide to back out and play some Vehicle Capture the Flag.  There were 2 rooms available, and one of them was 0/16 which means no one was in that room.  So I had no choice but to hop into the only available room and play with the eleven or so people that were playing ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.

A Massive Action Game indeed

massive-action-game-1

E3 2008 hadn’t given us, the gamers, much to prey for. Some DLC, a rumor of a price cut, new trailers and demo and Sony only officially released info on two new games. The first is a spin-off of the Resistance franchise that has just appeared on the PSP, and the second actually did give me something to hope for.

Killzone 2 DLC Confirmed

killzone2
So the first announcement of DLC has been confirmed through an interview with Gametrailers TV which you can view here.  The guys at Guerilla understand that developing a FPS nowadays, there has to be DLC to keep people interested. Adding to the eight maps already available is a must since eight is a relatively small number already. The first of the two announced will be available by the end of April. Check after the break for some info on the two new maps.

Killzone 2 Impressions

killzone2logo

While I haven’t gotten entirely into this game yet, I’ll give out my initial impressions right now and will elaborate more when I complete the game (which will take a while because I’m freaking busy.) Having a few minor problems is not going to stop this game for being the MEGA hit it deserves.
