Super Mario Galaxy 2 Gameplay Trailer

I haven’t played a Mario game since 64 but this trailer may have just swooned me into playing Galaxy 2. Watch it and see for yourself!

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Screens

Nintendo hasn’t announced a ton of games yet this year but they do have a few heavy hitters with one of those being Super Mario Galaxy 2. Nintendo is sticking with the same formula that sold so well with the first Mario Galaxy and applying it to SMG2. More of the same isn’t a bad thing especially when its a nintendo title and they are even giving you Yoshi in this one! I personally haven’t played a Mario game since 64 but I know people love these games and this is probably going to be one of the top 5 games across all platforms this year. Check out the new screens below!

Hands On: New Super Mario Bros Wii

newsupermariobroswiiba

We all know what to expect when playing a new Mario game: great level design, catchy music, vibrant graphics and having to save that stupid Princess that always ends up getting captured (honestly if I were Mario I’d would of given up in the N64 days). One thing that is still relatively untouched in the Mario series is co-op. In recent iterations co-op has been a nice add on. This time however, co-op is this adventure’s hook to get us all loving that chubby under-worked Plumber.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Impressions and Speculations

supermariogalaxy2

Super Mario Galaxy still to this day is the greatest Wii game that Nintendo can offer (in my opinion) so hearing the announcement that it is getting a direct sequel makes me extremely happy giving the fact there has never been more than one 3-D Mario platformer game per console life cycle. Super Mario Galaxy was a gorgeous game offering a creative spin on the platforming genre with tight physics, amazing level design, and one of the most beautiful worlds Mario has ever had to trek through. The announcement of Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a shock to me but I am hopeful it retains all the things that made the first Galaxy game an instant classic.

Brandy’s Weekly Randolist: 10 of the Nerdiest Coffee Tables

brandyrandobig1

On my hunt for things to fill up my imaginary 18-bedroom geek mansion, I came across several awesome coffee tables. I tried to keep the list mostly video game related- but I’m such a sucker for geeky/nerdy stuff I had to share them all.

Brandy’s Weekly Randolist: 10 Things for Every Gamer’s Home

This week for my random list of a few things to assure me that the geeks/nerds of the world are still alive and strong, I rounded up a couple of things I stumbled upon and found to be way cool. I know there are thousands of things out there for your home, but these are the ones I feel, as a gamer, that are super geeky/must haves for my eventual 18-bedroom castle I hope to one day own. (Also in this castle there will be an entire floor dedicated to being an arcade room, a beef jerky dispenser, and a full staff dressed as peasants from medieval times at all times- that’s another story though.) Here are my top 10 items of choice for this week, in no particular order.

Which Nintendo Character Would Have Your Back In A Bar-Fight?

barfight1

There are few things in this world that are more brutal than a good old fashioned bar-fight…especially for a nerd. Usually it involves drunk people talking smack to your woman, douche-bags with tribal tattoos trying to show off to inattentive girls, or possibly someone just feels like getting wasted and beating the hell out of someone else. It is a must that in these situations, you have to have a friend or two backing you up, and usually the friend has to be a lot more bad ass than you are, to get the job done. In this article I have picked a select few Nintendo characters as a reference to who I might pick to have my back in the case someone heaves a bottle at my face. Check them out, and leave us a comment telling us who would be getting your back! It doesn’t have to be one of the few below. Remember, Nintendo-licensed characters only! No mix-companies! Enjoy! +Continue Reading

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

mario2

It’s been a few weeks since E3 and not many people are talking about Nintendo’s press conference. One of the biggest surprises was having two Mario games announced and released in one year, New Super Mario Bros. for Wii being one of them.

New Super Mario Bros Wii  borrows a lot of its features from the Nintendo DS game. One thing the DS doesn’t have is 4 player CO-OP, new levels, the abilty to play as two Toad characters and Luigi. The CO-OP is also competitive, each player will be ranked on their score, number of coins collected, and enemies killed. New items such as the Propeller Suit, and the ability to change into Penguin Mario are sure to add plenty of variety. Much more info will be available closer to the game’s release date this holiday season. Be sure to check back for further updates and for now feast your eyes on these exclusive screenshots.

Nintendo takes the safe path with new Mario & Luigi RPG.

marioluigibox Since 1996, Nintendo has done the right thing  by adding in the turn-based RPG elements into some of their games. This first started with their collaboration with Squaresoft and the release of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. A few years later,  the oncoming of the Paper Mario series filled the void us RPG lovers had in our souls. Not too far down the line, the turn-based (and highly appreciated) Mario games made the jump to the hand held systems with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy Advance) and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Nintendo DS). After all of this role-playing success, Nintendo has decided to take a chance by making a same-system sequel, and having our two favorite plumber brothers jumping back into action on the Nintendo DS. The scenario of their adventures however, is as original as can be. +Continue Reading

New Super Mario Bros. Wii Impressions

newsupermariobroswii

Nintendo’s Press conference was most certainly better than last year, but that doesn’t mean it still competed with the other two companies in terms of hardcore games and new innovative technology. Still though, I gotta hand it to Nintendo for making me a believer again with the introduction of a new Metroid, a new Mario Galaxy, and of course, the New Super Mario Bros. Wii title, among others. Although I hate the name, it still could prove to be a blast when it hits its release date sometime by the end of this year.
