Why Uncharted 2 Could Spell Bad News for the Games Industry

Before I get into this, I imagine you saw the title and thought ‘What?! This guy’s clearly an idiot. Uncharted 2 is bloody awesome, keep your opinions to yourself before the wrath of the internet eats you whole.’ Bravo, you fell right into my cunning, yet journalistically clichéd trap, you poor thing. I only just finished Uncharted 2, I know, I’m a terrible person. I couldn’t start playing it until the Saturday afternoon and being such the social butterfly/part-time waiter I am, didn’t get to complete it until today.

The Dos & Don’ts of: Metal Gear Online

I realise that, since my name is publicly scorned by every Killzone fan in existence for my previous article, you may be very tempted to skip this and go straight to the comment section and deliver a carefully worded, and painful, insult. If you’re that kind of person go on ahead. I accept I am not the most professional of writers, I know I’m blandly offensive, and I apologise in advance for any controversy the future could bring. Now I suppose I’ll stop this pointless apology, you’re gonna hate me regardless, and get on with my job of delivering something for you to read.

Metal Gear Online is far from the most followed online shooter, in fact it has only reached one million individual accounts, and is basically a cult following. The main reason would be the frustrating and confusing register method of having to sign up for a KONAMI account prior to actually playing, unlike most games that simply use your PSN/XBL. It is basically this problem alone that hampers the number of people who play MGO. In the beginning, everyone began on a level playing field. Everyone was subject to lag, unsure about controls, was fresh to the game. However as the months would pass the men were separated from the boys and the game today is very much a two-tiered experience, so much so that KONAMI has created an exclusive tournament for it’s better players. So in this battlefield, when in every game lurks a pro who would be able to kill you & your entire team a dozen times over without effort, there are some golden rules you should always follow. As well as idiot mistakes you must be avoiding.
