Hands-on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Preview (PSP)

As a PSP only title this game looks pretty amazing.  When Peace Walker was first publicly announced just last E3 we were treated with a trailer that showed off the games impressive visuals and story; which is taking place after the last PSP Metal Gear title Portable Ops.  We follow Naked Snake, or Big Boss, on an adventure to save Costa Rica from an unknown military force that has established a presence within their land.   After leaving the CIA special Units FOX and founding FOXHOUND Snake is now staying in Columbia where he started a new group known as Militaires Sans Frontières  (Soldiers Without Borders).

Metal Gear Misconception

“Reloading like this.. its a revolution!”

There was once a time that even us Sony fanboys had to admit that the only real big title we had was Metal Gear Solid 4 against Xbox 360’s roster of games. Sure there was Resistance, MotorStorm, Ratchet and Clank along with some others (cough, Genji: Days of the Blade), but for some reason they  just didn’t have the impact of dropping the MGS bomb. Its hard to believe that our once holy grail of PlayStation 3 went through quite its share of controversy, and isn’t so high held by a lot of gamers to this day.

Video Games Turned Comic Books.

Capcom_-_Rival_Schools_vs_Darkstalkers_01

Most gamers aren’t new to comic books, in fact for a lot of us they kind of come hand in hand. With a good number of games being released with comic book styles and themes, its no wonder that they’ve also made comic books based on video games.

With the announcement of UDON’s Darkstalkers 3 issue comic book miniseries (expected to release early next year), I thought it would be a good time to take a look at some other games and characters that have made the jump from console to paper.

Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy Review

old-snake-with-solid-eye

Before I begin I suppose I should own up. This isn’t the ACTUAL movie that Sony is trying to push. No, this is a non-profit fan made movie made with no capital or resources. The makers are Hive Division, a semi-professional production studio, who really really deserve a goddamn medal. The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done.

Metal Gear Online Stacks On A New Map.

I.I

I.I

The fine people over at Konami have released a new patch for the online version of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Online. The patch includes a slew of updates, fixes, and best of all a brand new map.

The map, which is called Icebound Inferno (I.I), features pieces of the fight with Crying Wolf, or for the veteran players of the series out there, Shadow Moses. Featuring Liquids Hind D helicopter and snow so thick players will be walking right past you, it should be an enjoyable time for long time fans and new fans alike.

Another notable release with the new patch is being able to play as Snake as a special character outside of Sneaking Mission.

You can get full notes from the patch on the official site here.
