Confirmed: New NBA Jam coming to the Wii This Year!

This morning EA Sports confirmed with a press release that they are indeed developing and re-make of the classic NBA Jam. For now it has only been announced for the Wii and according to Peter Moore the game will also stay true to its roots. “NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history, Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise” said Moore. The game will also introduce some new game modes and abilities along with the classic style that is NBA Jam. Check back for more info!

Rumor: New NBA Jam coming from EA

Rumors have been flying and ESPN reports that EA sports has acquired the NBA Jam license and is working on a new NBA Jam. The catch is that according to the report it is only going to be available on the Wii. Although, there are other reports which suggest the game will also get the XBLA and PSN treatment along with a Wii retail release. The creator of the original NBA Jam now works for EA and is said to be collaborating on the project. This isn’t EA’s first time at a arcade basketball game, if you remember the “Street” series that EA used to do. Some of those were pretty good games and I am sure that this reboot is going to fill that void. It also could have to do with the success of the more arcade version of Madden that is available on the Wii. Remember this is just a rumor and we will post when more concrete details emerge.

NBA 2K10 Review

So in the tenth year of the NBA 2K series, we were promised something special, and something that would knock us off our feet from prior games. Sure, I know what you’re thinking…”this is a basketball game, how much different could it get?”. Well the truth is, the games are very different. I’m a huge sports fan, and at the top of that chain lies the National Basketball Association. I pay attention to the smallest of details…and when playing sports games, I want to feel the combination of real-life presentation, and the excitement of edge-of-your-seat action in fast paced game scenarios. After a quick decision in deciding I liked NBA 2K9 over NBA Live 2009, it was a shoe-in that I would buy NBA 2K10. Here are my thoughts on it. +Continue Reading

Speculation: NBA 2K9 Vs. NBA Live 2009

The NBA season starts in October, and aside from maybe Rich, I’m probably the only one on Resume Play that cares. However, it is my job to bring a little bit of sporting games into this nerd fest of a site. Along with the new season comes to releases of NBA Live 2010 and NBA 2K10. I’ve had almost a year of fun and excitement from these games and there is a constant debate about which one is better. Most of the people that side with the live games only play the live games, and likewise with the 2K series. I have owned NBA Live 2009 since the release date, and only just picked up 2K9. I am a dedicated NBA fan and pay attention to lots of small details, so I will take those into count. I think you’ll be surprised by my comparison. I have been a live buyer for the last three years, but before that I was a 2K series buyer, and even before that, I was a live buyer. Here’s my professional Resume Play writer comparison of NBA Live 2009 and NBA 2K9. +Continue Reading

10 Things EA can do to improve for NBA Live 2010.

nba-live-2010

Anyone that knows me, knows that from October to July I am engulfed in NBA basketball.  This is no exception for video games. In celebration of the 2009 draft, this is a great topic. I have owned NBA live games dating back to NBA Live ‘95 for SNES (and I still have it!). Last year, EA shocked the sporting games world with the introduction of “dynamic DNA” to NBA live 2009. When I saw press conference and videos, I was sold immediately and bought the game on the day it was released. Dynamic DNA updated players statuses, injuries, trades, and playing habits onto your console after every single game, and every single press release. This was a giant and necessary step for sports games, but there are still a ton of problems that I hope to see (and have been vaguely assured by EA’s Marcus Stephenson) fixed in Live 2010. +Continue Reading
