Puzzle Quest Gets a Sequel

belltower

D3Publisher announced today the sequel to the highly addictive Puzzle Quest game that combined weapons, spells, and many other medieval weaponry into a puzzle adventure game. Puzzle Quest is played like a match-3 style but blends fantasy elements into it. You control one of four character classes including: War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, or Assassin as they try to reclaim the village of Verloren which has been taken over by some demon named Gorgon (love that name). So of course, the one way to claim the village as yours is to throw colored blocks at each other and make the opponent lose (isn’t that how wars are fought?)

Not much has been announced for the game including if it will contain new features or modes, but they are shooting for a Spring 2010 release for the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo DS. Check after the break for screenshots and artwork of the 360 version.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Review

header

If you’re an active Marvel fan, then you know what the Civil War, how it came about, and how it went down. However, the storyline isn’t the only thing that seriously lacked in the sequel I had been looking forward to since the first game’s release. With every level I played in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, I gained more and more disappointment. Coming from a true Marvel fan, here are the reasons I think Activision should create time-travel and go back to stage one of developing this game. *Warning: There may be spoilers from the game.* +Continue Reading

Review—Phantasy Star Zero

125226-phantasy-star-zero-box-art

I’ve been a long fan of Phantasy Star Online.  While I didn’t come from the days of it on Dreamcast, I put many hours of my life into the GameCube version.  A few years later, I no longer have a GameCube, and the game that I once was borrowing is now gone.  Never really got the chance to play Phantasy Star Universe either, but you could probably imagine my joy once I found out about Phantasy Star Zero on the DS.  Hit the link to find out my thoughts on the newest game into the Phantasy Star series.

Scribblenauts Review

scribblenautsheader

In longing for a truly amazing game to dive into on my Nintendo DS since Phantom Hourglass, I was on my tip-toes in anxiety after seeing this unveiled at E3. The entire concept of creating your own way through a game by conjuring up whatever your little heart desires had me wide-eyed and bushy tailed. To me, this was a breakthrough in gaming. I always knew that Nintendo was going to throw out the amazing Mario and Zelda titles, but I’ve been waiting for a new face on the Nintendo sidelines in American gaming. Earlier in the year, I thought that face was going to be Starfy, but after the disappointingly easy and repetitive game-play, I decided that maybe 5th Cell and Warner Bros. could add that new face. Maxwell the Scribblenaut has almost met every expectation I had for him. But the key-word is almost. +Continue Reading

Review: Ninjatown

In a world of complex and complicated gaming, there are still few games that are even close to being as addictive as the basic “defend your castle” strategy games. I’ve caught myself off guard with these simple, yet mind/soul sucking adventures and have lost countless hours of my life that went by in what seemed to be just a few minutes. This game is no exception. My first play of it took four hours out of my day, and I didn’t even realize it. Click below to jump into the underrated DS title known as Ninjatown! +Continue Reading

Nintendo takes the safe path with new Mario & Luigi RPG.

marioluigibox Since 1996, Nintendo has done the right thing  by adding in the turn-based RPG elements into some of their games. This first started with their collaboration with Squaresoft and the release of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. A few years later,  the oncoming of the Paper Mario series filled the void us RPG lovers had in our souls. Not too far down the line, the turn-based (and highly appreciated) Mario games made the jump to the hand held systems with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy Advance) and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Nintendo DS). After all of this role-playing success, Nintendo has decided to take a chance by making a same-system sequel, and having our two favorite plumber brothers jumping back into action on the Nintendo DS. The scenario of their adventures however, is as original as can be. +Continue Reading

Broken Sword: Shadow Of The Templar’s Director’s Cut Review

broken-sword

Broken sword shadow of the Templar’s was a brilliant game on PlayStation 1 and on the Game Boy Advance for that matter; now the game was re-created for the Wii and DS. Is Broken Sword the Shadow of the Templar’s still a good game like it once was and does it bring back what the latest editions of the franchise missed?

No Time For Love, Doctor Jones!

indiana-jones-and-the-staff-of-kings-imagen

Being that I am a twenty-two year old male, it is only natural that one of my favorite (and most respected) fictional heroes of all time is Indiana Jones. This is why I am confused that nobody is talking about his “current-gen” debut is right around the corner. Indy will be swinging his way onto the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP on June 9th, 2009.  Get a load of these fortune cookies! +Continue Reading
