Red Dead Redemption Preview

It seems like there haven’t been many western video games in the last couple generations.  There was Gun a few years ago and most recently there was Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood released just this past summer.  This May you’ll be able to experience a sandbox style Western that makes use of the same engine applied in Grand Theft Auto 4 (Euphoria and RAGE) from Rockstar San Diego.  The game has been compared to GTA4 and has even been called “Grand Theft Horse” because of the unique cast of characters you will meet on the course of playing the game and that it’s basically a Grand Theft Auto game set in the Wild West.  Not much has been said about the large mass of land you will be able to embark on in the game, but what we know is that it’s going to be even bigger than what we saw in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

God of War 3 Hands-on Preview

Just about anyone with a PlayStation 3 has been waiting for this game since its announcement, and it’s almost here. I recently got a hold of the God of War 3 E3 demo shown this past summer, and I probably played it about 5 times through by now.  The game feels the same — which isn’t a bad thing at all.  God of War is known for its fluid controls and its ability to let you do a lot by pressing one or two buttons leaving you satisfied with the amount of damage you’ve just bestowed upon your enemy. Many said that this game looks like an HD God of War and I agree that it does; that being said the original God of War on PlayStation 2 looked pretty damn good for its time and it still holds up. (God of War Collection on PS3) The fact of the matter is  God of War 3 looks gorgeous. It’s only a matter of weeks before Kratos is officially back and I can’t wait for the full experience!

Alpha Protocol gets a release date, new trailer & screens

Alpha Protocol is one of those 2008/2009 games that got delayed repeatedly into the now-packed 2010 spring window. But if you haven’t heard of this one before, you might want to start paying attention now, because its coming out on June 1st on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Alpha Protocol eschews the traditional fantasy and space settings of RPG’s, using instead an international espionage story as its basis. Resumeplay will give you a full preview when we get closer to the launch date, but for now we’ve got a new trailer, new screenshots and a brief introduction to the game.

What you need to know about Alan Wake

“It’s easier to iterate on a product than to bring something totally new.”  Says Remedy’s Matias Myllyrinne. It must be true given the fact that Remedy’s last released game was Max Payne 2 back in 2003. Ever since the release of that game seven years ago Remedy has been working on Alan Wake; a project that has undergone so much change in its style and scope.  Myllyrinne explained at DICE this past week that one of the hardships they have faced in the development was giving up their first idea of mixing a thriller type story with a sandbox type game– this decision was sacrificial to the time they spent for the first 6 months creating the game and the couple millions that it cost.  The game is finally complete now and we are just months away from the full experience of Alan’s journey.

Hands-on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Preview (PSP)

As a PSP only title this game looks pretty amazing.  When Peace Walker was first publicly announced just last E3 we were treated with a trailer that showed off the games impressive visuals and story; which is taking place after the last PSP Metal Gear title Portable Ops.  We follow Naked Snake, or Big Boss, on an adventure to save Costa Rica from an unknown military force that has established a presence within their land.   After leaving the CIA special Units FOX and founding FOXHOUND Snake is now staying in Columbia where he started a new group known as Militaires Sans Frontières  (Soldiers Without Borders).

Hands-on Dante’s Inferno Preview

As the release of God of War 3 is nearing fans of the series are trying to keep themselves busy, but how? Well the God of War Collection on the Playstation 3 is how, but that doesn’t help the Xbox 360 owners who don’t have the money to shell out for a PS3 — that’s where Dante’s Inferno comes in. The demo I played on the PS3 last week was very similar to the gameplay you would remember from God of War; in that there is heavy and light attacks as well as magic. You also go along the game collecting souls as you disembody enemies that stagger in your path.

Dragon Age: Origins Preview

dragon-age-origins-logo

Lately, RPG fans have received more then their fair share of games. With Borderlands just released in what feels like days after Demon’s Souls, and games like the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy constantly looming in the shadows, its hard not to feel a little overwhelmed. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Dragon Age: Origins is shaping up to being an RPG your not going to want to push to the side.

Assassin’s Creed II: Early Look

ac2Assassin’s Creed was easily one of my favorite games of 2007. Assassin’s Creed did have some issues that people knocked it for being too repetitive and not much of a stealth game, but those are as always supposed to be fixed with the ever prevalent sequel.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Competitive Multiplayer First Impressions

uncharted-offical-ss-1

This is Undoubtedly One of the Most Graphically Stunning Console Games to Date

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is one of the best games currently available for the Playstation 3 platform, and its successor is looking to up the ante in every way possible.

Having pre-ordered inFAMOUS, I was among those who received an invite code for the Uncharted 2 multi-player beta. The beta opened up on June 2nd, following the impressive single-player demonstration at Sony’s press-conference at E3. Since that day, I’ve found myself repeatedly drawn back to the game, despite the lack of maps and game-types available in the beta, and I have to say, what I have seen so far is impressive.
