Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review (Xbox 360)

Bad Company 2 has some serious competition, having arrived after the likes of the Modern Warfare series and the epic story that it told through the single player. Bad Company is up for the challenge, making a game that is vastly superior to the first while poking fun of the competition which helps set the mood that is the Bad Company atmosphere. Dice knows how to make a fun multiplayer experience, but the single player of the first bogged the title down and didn’t make the dent it needed to be that great title that gamers talk about for years. I can safely say Bad Company 2 is overall a better game, making the story more enjoyable to play through and creating a new layer to the multiplayer to keep you coming back for more.

Greed Corp XBLA review

Greed Corps is a RTS for XBLA that is unique in many ways. It creates tension in the game by forcing players to deal with terrain that is, well, destroying itself. Wholly an endurance game, and set up for multiplayer use, it is intriguing and unfortunately flawed.

Halo Legends DVD Review

When I first heard of Halo legends I was pretty annoyed as I thought to myself at how they could pull off making this into an anime. But then I learned several big name anime studios would be working on it such as the makers of Ghost in the Shell, I said “Hey why not, I’ll give it a chance”.

Review: White Knight Chronicles

I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with all the bad press this game has been getting. In one review the online portion got a measly paragraph, which consisted of very little information and a lot of bad talk over scrolling through the Terms of Service (which I might add can be completely skipped by simply pressing right on the d-pad).

Resumeplay reviews The Saboteur

the-saboteur-e3-2009-16

The scene is a tavern, modest if not danky. Theres a clear tense division at the bar, one end a group of french, the other two irishmen. Everything goes well until a certain topic runs foul and a brutal, but fecking brilliant, brawl ensues. Now enough about the aftermath of the world cup qualifiers, let’s talk about Pandemic’s swansong; The Saboteur.

Worldshift Review

worldshift3

Worldshift sports gorgeous visuals and old school RTS mechanics that harkens back to the originals in the RTS genre such as Red Alert. It seems multiplayer was the main focus when developing the game, as you’re asked to log in or create an account as soon as you log in. This may have been a fantastic idea, as many of the game’s concepts are obviously inspired by MMOGs, but the game’s meager depth makes it hard to keep interest.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Review (PS3)

UC2AT-Mountaineering-vistaYou no doubt have heard, at this point, an inordinate amount of buzz surrounding Uncharted 2. People talk of one of the greatest single-player games they have ever experienced, and many view this as the “Killer App” Sony has needed to sell their console. Well, having made my way through the entirety of the game, I can say with certainty that, for the most part, the buzz is justified.

Brutal Legend Review: Declared Most Metal Game ever

BrutalFew were as excited about Brutal Legend as I was, and having actually played it, I can safely say that this game surpassed my expectations.

Brutal Legend’s narrative follows Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black), the world’s greatest roadie for the world’s worst metal band. There is a horrible accident, and he is transported back in time to help the human resistance fight the evil Emperor Doviculus. The world looks like it was taken straight from the greatest metal album covers, or  Frank Frazetta paintings, and being a Tim Schafer game, is a guaranteed hilarious good time.

Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (PSP)

Box Art

When the first game in the Persona series was released in 1996, western video-game fans had just begun accepting the basic tenants of the JRPG, and it was for this reason that the game was such a shock to the system. It flouted most of the conventions so present in the genre, and as such was both embraced by those seeking a change of pace, and dismissed by others too befuddled by the changes it made to the classic JRPG formula. Now, 13 years later, the game presents an experience that is as unique now as it was on its release.

HALO 3: ODST Review

Halo 3 ODST - 2ODST. Your first question when Bungie renamed this game from HALO 3: Recon to ODST was probably, what the heck is ODST. It stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, they are a group of the hardest and most deadly soldiers in the UNSC (think the equivalent to our Navy Seals). Also referred to as Hell-jumpers because of the unique way they are inserted into battle. Their mode of transportation is a small 1 person drop pod which is fired from the UNSC ships above the battlefield. They don’t have shields, can’t dual-wield, and rely on health packs and teamwork to survive.

Scribblenauts Review

scribblenautsheader

In longing for a truly amazing game to dive into on my Nintendo DS since Phantom Hourglass, I was on my tip-toes in anxiety after seeing this unveiled at E3. The entire concept of creating your own way through a game by conjuring up whatever your little heart desires had me wide-eyed and bushy tailed. To me, this was a breakthrough in gaming. I always knew that Nintendo was going to throw out the amazing Mario and Zelda titles, but I’ve been waiting for a new face on the Nintendo sidelines in American gaming. Earlier in the year, I thought that face was going to be Starfy, but after the disappointingly easy and repetitive game-play, I decided that maybe 5th Cell and Warner Bros. could add that new face. Maxwell the Scribblenaut has almost met every expectation I had for him. But the key-word is almost. +Continue Reading
