Way of the Samurai 3 confirmed for March 12th

Rising Star Games has confirmed today that Way of the Samurai 3 will be arriving on PS3 and 360 on March 12th. Way of the Samurai is an open world RPG where your character is a samurai during the Sengoku era where moral choices play an effect; the player can either side with the neutral villagers, or ignore them and go down your own path. The series is known for its open world freedom letting the players choose how to play the game. The game even includes over 15 different endings so multiple playthroughs are a must if you want to get the full story. Seems like a pretty cool game that shouldn’t be overshadowed by the heavy releases this season so be sure to check it out next Friday.

Final Fantasy I and II Releasing On iPhone Today

Today is a great day to be a Final Fantasy fan and own an iPhone because the first two in the series are available in the Apps Store for $8.99 a piece. There might be other games in the series that I would have chosen over these (4-6 that is) but this is still a pretty sweet deal on these games. The only thing you have to get around is the fact that these games are incredibly dated, and the first Final Fantasy has an extremely weak story. While they might be old, they definitely don’t look it featuring updates to the graphics, sounds and control to utilize the potential of the iPhone/iPod Touch.

If this isn’t enough to excite you, Square Enix has cut prices on five other games they have up in the store including Crystal Defenders, Vanguard Storm, Sliding Heroes, Hills and Rivers Remain, and Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes – Encore. I suggest everyone and check some of these games out, especially at their cheaper prices.

Final Fantasy XIII Getting A 360 Bundle

Final Fantasy XIII is just around the corner and to help drive sales of this game toward the Xbox 360 is the release of this console + game bundle. There will be two different bundles included: the Special Edition and the Elite Bundle, both are available for pre-order now and will be available on FFXIII release day of March 9th.

The special Edition bundle includes a 250GB hard drive with engravings on the Hard Drive itself along with two wireless controller, Avatar downloadable items including one Rosch Outfit, One Nabaat Outfit and a Chocobo pet (exclusive to this bundle only), and a copy of the game itself. As an added pre-order bonus, you will also receive a Limited Edition Faceplate designed by the legendary character designer from many Final Fantasy games Tetsuya Nomura. These are only available in small doses so I suggest if you want one you go put down the pre-order immediately. The less than exciting Elite Bundle includes a 120GB black Hard Drive, one Wireless Controller and a copy of Final Fantasy XIII.

Review: White Knight Chronicles

I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with all the bad press this game has been getting. In one review the online portion got a measly paragraph, which consisted of very little information and a lot of bad talk over scrolling through the Terms of Service (which I might add can be completely skipped by simply pressing right on the d-pad).

Review—Gyromancer

Pop Cap Games and Square Enix made a game.  Pop Cap Games and Square Enix made a game.  POP CAP GAMES AND SQUARE ENIX MADE A GAME!  Now that I’ve gotten that point across, you can imagine my expectations and thoughts behind Gyromancer.  The people that made Peggle and Plant vs. Zombies working together with the creators of Final Fantasy, that is what we call win.  It has to be good, right?

Review—-League of Legends

newchamps

The Defense of the Ancients is probably the most well known Warcraft scenario, making its debut in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.  Since that time, its popularity has skyrocketed and the game type is a well-known tournament game.  League of Legends is a game coming from the same team that put together DotA, now working with Riot Games to push it out.  While I haven’t had experience with the original game, I can safely say League of Legends has a lot to live up to.

Torchlight – Review (PC)

If Fate and Diablo II had a baby, what would it come out to be? The developers behind Fate, and the co-creators of Diablo II have created a world that has meshed the two together and called it Torchlight. As the game started up and I first heard the background music, I was reminded of how closely related this game was to Diablo II. It made me more than a bit nostalgic, and was actually a bit refreshing, if not overpowering. +Continue Reading

Dragon Age: Origins Review (PS3)

If you were around when I wrote up a preview for this game you may remember that I had pretty high expectations for it. After a slew of sleepless nights in front of my PlayStation and time spent looking at character builds online, I have come to my final conclusion on BioWare’s dark fantasy RPG. What makes this game so hard to come to a solid conclusion on is that for the most part, the content is there, it can just be difficult to use. Features are a plenty but often you’ll find yourself straining to use them, or disappointed that the game has made some decisions for you.

Dragon Age: Origins Preview

Lately, RPG fans have received more then their fair share of games. With Borderlands just released in what feels like days after Demon’s Souls, and games like the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy constantly looming in the shadows, its hard not to feel a little overwhelmed. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Dragon Age: Origins is shaping up to being an RPG your not going to want to push to the side.

Brutal Legend Review: Declared Most Metal Game ever

BrutalFew were as excited about Brutal Legend as I was, and having actually played it, I can safely say that this game surpassed my expectations.

Brutal Legend’s narrative follows Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black), the world’s greatest roadie for the world’s worst metal band. There is a horrible accident, and he is transported back in time to help the human resistance fight the evil Emperor Doviculus. The world looks like it was taken straight from the greatest metal album covers, or  Frank Frazetta paintings, and being a Tim Schafer game, is a guaranteed hilarious good time.

Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (PSP)

Box Art

When the first game in the Persona series was released in 1996, western video-game fans had just begun accepting the basic tenants of the JRPG, and it was for this reason that the game was such a shock to the system. It flouted most of the conventions so present in the genre, and as such was both embraced by those seeking a change of pace, and dismissed by others too befuddled by the changes it made to the classic JRPG formula. Now, 13 years later, the game presents an experience that is as unique now as it was on its release.

Breath of Fire Review

Breath of Fire on Roids

The beginning of a series is always a very fascinating game to play. Needless to say they are always a great experience and reflects the spirit of its successors. Ryu one of the last of the Light Dragon Clan must save the world from the Dark Dragon Clan and the goddess Myria. Of course Nina accompanies our hero as she does throughout all their reincarnations adventures.
