This game is the breath of fresh air the series needed. I remember back when this title was first announced and the screens of shaggy haired Sam Fisher that shortly followed. Today Fisher looks very different, and it looks like the developers are trying to totally redefined the series. For the last couple years a lot of designers were trying to find a way to keep your HUD totally clean so that you can have a fluid and visually pleasurable experience with the game; also giving you a level of immersion that game developers always try to hit on. I think the team at Ubisoft Montreal are probably doing it the best with Splinter Cell Conviction.

Remember back when we weren’t even sure what Nintendo’s next console was going to be named. All we knew was it would be something totally new, it would make use of motion control, and its code name: The Revolution. The first title to really interest me (other than the Zelda port from GameCube, Twilight Princess) was Red Steel from Ubisoft. When the game came out I went over to a friends house and played it — I beat the whole game within a week, and you know what? It wasn’t that great at all. That being said when I heard that there would be a sequel I wasn’t as pessimistic as some would be after having my experience with the first game, but I found myself more optimistic and sure that they’ll see through their flaws of the first game and fix it for the second. We’ve seen Ubisoft do this with Assassin’s Creed and I think they might just have to do it again for Red Steel 2.

So yeah…there was a TON of news from X10 yesterday. Ubisoft was there showing off Conviction and the press that was on hand had nothing but good things to say about it. So hopefully that extra time to work on the title paid off. For now though check out these new screens.
Assassin’s Creed 1 was one of the best selling new IP’s the year it released. Now with AC2 selling 8 Million in just a few months, It has joined the ranks of the Halo’s and God of War’s as a AAA title.
So if a game sells 8 million in a matter of months you can bet your coin purse that the Developer Ubisoft is planning another game in the series. Ubisoft announced today that the next game will be set in Rome and you’ll stabbing fools with your hidden blade before April 2011. I personally loved the AC2 and can’t wait to see where Ubisoft takes the series from here.

CVG has released a report that the next AC game will in fact star Assassin’s Creed 2 hero Ezio. Ubisoft has also revealed that it will be designed by the same team that brought you AC2 and it is also a follow up story of the last game. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemo states: “We have a new Assassin’s Creed that we expect will be a very high quality product that as well as an offline component will have a multiplayer component”. Their goal is to release the sequel by March of 2011, and it will also be sold at “full price point.” The real question is what will the title be released on?
Today Ubisoft announced via financial meeting that Splinter Cell Conviction will not be coming out in February and will be hitting store shelves in April. No reason was given for the push back but this isn’t the first time this game has been delayed. Also delayed was RUSE, which has been pushed to fiscal year 2011. With this spring being full of triple A titles this probably isn’t the only game that will get pushed out farther. Keep checking back for more info.

In the year of 2009, there has been a bold statement made about the new generation of gaming. I’m not talking about a statement of graphics, storyline, or game-play. I’m also not talking about a statement of what’s going to win the best game of the year. I’m talking about a statement made by a website to the video gaming world declaring that the creators of some of the best games of 2009 are using subliminal racism in their top-selling titles. I’m here to give my thoughts on this declaration. +Continue Reading

How often does a sequel surpass it’s predecessor? In movies and books… rarely ever. In video games, it is perhaps a little more common. To say that Assassin’s Creed II has merely surpassed it’s predecessor would be an enormous understatement. AC2, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is Ubisoft’s highly anticipated sequel to 2007’s Assassin’s Creed. The first Assassin’s Creed met mixed reviews and left many people feeling disappointed. The most recent addition, however, launched last Tuesday and proves to be a more than welcome addition to the series. Read on for our full review of Assassin’s Creed II with a detailed look at what Ubisoft has done right and what they have done wrong.

I’m going to start out by saying Turtles in Time is one of my favorite side-scrolling brawlers, so I had been looking forward to the remake/remix for quite some time. For once Xbox has brought one of my childhood brawling games to 3D, and is giving me the chance to play it with other people across the world. Needless to say, I was ready for the game…but leave to the new age of gaming to make me take them to (and pay for) dinner and a movie, and chocolate shakes afterward…and not even get a few minutes of make-out time.

E3 2008, Ubisoft announced an upcoming survival game titles “I Am Alive” with a interesting launch trailer included.
There, ladies & gentlemen, the press for this game halts. No trailers, no conference, nothing. All we get is a slow, and very vague, leaks of information of which I will now compile into something readable.

Think back to when the Wii was initially announced and how much coverage the first Red Steel got. A game switching back and forth from gun-play to sword-play, and being able to do all this through motion controls excited gamers to no end. Sadly though, the limitations of Nintendo’s latest console stopped the game right in its tracks from being able to pull off what they promised. Now with the release of Wii Motionplus and the ability to actually pull these motions off successfully, Ubisoft is giving the series another shot.

A new trailer has been revealed for one of the best selling games from two years ago, Assassin’s Creed. The trailer is a teaser which means we don’t get very many details about the actual game. However some of Leonardo Da Vinci’s work is shown in the trailer leading me to believe it could take place sometime during the Renaissance. Click below to view the trailer.
